Re: Floor Pans and Heater Channel Replacement
Well, no more excuses!
Saturday morning Hedrock, DannyK and a couple of other guys are coming over to set the body back on the frame and measure to fit the firewall and front cross brace. Then I'll be able to get the floors in and firewall, as well. After that, on to the heater channel replacement.
We'll take pics on Saturday. Stay tuned.

Who is the camera man?
Hot, humid air is less dense than cooler, drier air. This can allow a golf ball to fly through the air with greater ease, as there won't be as much resistance on the ball.

You know we will be requiring proof that the mission goes well.

Don't forget to turn the camera so that the lens is facing away from you.Hedrock wrote:I'll have proof. DannyK... I think I can almost smell the coffee nowdavid58 wrote:You know we will be requiring proof that the mission goes well.

David, No disrespect to those you are referring to that's helping Doc, but you have the funniest ways of expressing someone without using any words at all. Those three comic exagerations are a hoot!

Re: Floor Pans and Heater Channel Replacement
I just got home I talked to Hedrock while I was still at the shop and he said things went well. I usually don't work week ends but this will make 2 7 day weeks in a row for me. I hope nobody thought I was being disrespectful at all just trying to motivate these guys. I just think that those three guys together with the talent they have need a little ribbing. It's great to see these guys get together, I only wish they lived closer. Then I could get some help.
doc did you get a new welder? I think you did or was it a air squeezing pump? The reason I ask about the welder is because I bought a whole new lead for mine and I see a big difference. I had put a new liner in it and it made a small difference about a year ago. But when welding the wire would quit feeding, because a blob of weld would stick to the tip when I let off the trigger. This hasn't happened since I bought the new lead. I can fill a dime sized hole in the original sheet metal without using a backer like copper. The trick to doing it is the wire has to feed properly, and you have to be able to see what you are doing. If you squeeze the trigger and let off as fast as you squeezed it you won't burn thru. What you do is randomly do this around the hole, then you can start welding. The quick welds around the hole won't burn thru like the sheet metal will. So once you get these weld beads close enough together you can lay a bead from one of them to the next then to the next one. I will try to put together a vid showing the method I am talking about. I also went to a shade 8 lens now I can see what I am welding.

Re: Floor Pans and Heater Channel Replacement
Here's the stooge, I mean, team report: Brian come over and we drove to Doc's in his big comfy truck, because he said it was too cold to ride in my Thing
. We arrived half an hour late to spend the next hour or two, shooting the breeze, enjoying beverages and a very nice lunch prepared by Doc's wife. Doc then led a Team meeting which led to us finally actually doing something. We lifted the body on and off again a couple times to get the rear pan supports, front Napolean Hat, pans and firewall lined up. A little cutting and grinding here and there and then Doc tacked the pieces in where they needed to be. My main job was "armlift" which left me plenty of time to admire the various other projects in his awesome shop. To summarize- we had a good time, good food and made progress on the car. All in all, a pretty good day ! -Dan (Stooge #2)
