EditI have thrust cut and oversize/undersize crank 1st mains for 1.9 cases, and one or two complete sets of align bore 1.9 mains
So I am posting to try and figure out something for the Donalds family, of Boston Engine. As most of you may already know, Bob Donalds passed away several months ago leaving his vast horde of obscure parts behind. One box no one has been able to figure out what to do with is his box of 1.9 bearings, which he had custom made by some machine shop. It is my understanding it is a box of the three mains, all cut to different oversizes which I assume were unavaliable. You just add the normal oversize 4th main from a 2.1 or bug or what ever it was that fits.
anyways, is there a market for this on here? Karen would prefer to sell the box as a lot, so please let me know. Are these bearings now available and the box trash? Any help would be much appreciated.
1.9 bearings, oversize, what to do with them (now an AD)

give a man a watch and he'll allways know what time it is. give him two and he can never be sure again.

I bought a custom-made oversized 1.9 wbx #1 main bearing from Bob a couple years ago. I guess this must be what you're describing, his stash of custom aluminum #1's. The rest of the 1.9 case's main bearings are the same as Type 1's, but the #1's are unique, and the retail supply of over/unders is drying up. So they do have value, but someone would have to be working on a lot of 1.9 cases to want to buy the whole lot. I build nothing but wbx's and I still rarely build on a 1.9 case, as it works out.
I know you'd rather not be selling small parts like that piecemeal.
If you could mike out and list what is in the stash then someone could decide how potentially useful they might be and whether it would be worthwhile to buy the whole lot. Individually, a unique and unavailable bearing is of course valuable, but the value per unit drops when someone is expected to buy a boxful, as chances are many of them would never end up being used.

Well Karen has the inentory of every bearing in that shop, so I guess that information is available, however I don't have it. However sinece you actually do use those bearings, if you want to PM me a lowball offer for the lot, I can pass it on for you
I'd rather see them get used then just thrown out in a year when we get fed up with trying to sell everything.
as far as what is in the stash, it was a whole bucnh of smaller boxes w/ about 4 bearings per, each marked a different size, so I would dare to guess at it being 4 of each of your basic sizes, as there were probably about 40-60 bearings in there.

well I was in there today, but not to look at bearings. I quickly glanced in to see what was really in there, and it was boxes of 25 per size, 20/20, std/40 with oversize thrust, std/20. those are all I remeber, but there were atleast 6 different boxes in there, and two wer labeld 25 bearings, so I assume 25 per box, 150 bearings.

So I guess what you're talking about are all oversize-case 1.9 bearings?
I so rarely build on a 1.9 case, and that sounds like a whole lot of bearings that are actually somewhat valuable because oversize case 1.9's are very hard to find. If they were available, then why would Bob have gone to the trouble to have them made? But that's a lot of stuff. I don't think I could make a credible offer that wouldn't be insulting, but I don't have the capital to tie up in anything I wouldn't get pretty immediate use out of.
Isn't Bob's partner carrying on with BEE? If so, why wouldn't he want to keep them? If you sell them one by one, eventually there's a lot of money to be made. I paid Bob a pretty penny for one #1 bearing two years ago, and he saved my bacon because he had those custom ones.

Re: 1.9 bearings, oversize, what to do with them
Well the bearings are now for sale piecemeal, buy one or buy thirty, 25 bucks each, buy a handfull and I'll cut you a deal. I'm going to leave this here because folks who want these are more likely to see em here than in the classifieds. If that's an issue, lemme know and I'll just put it in the misc section only.
I have a list of sizes somwhere, but I quite honeslty can say I have nearly any combo of case/crank and thrust sizes possible.
