Re: Amr500 on 1641cc ! Fab. work is done, ready for dyno
I know the site but thanks anyway,
The first tests will be done with the stock pulley thats mounted on the amr500.
That diameter will be our reference to go bigger or smaller.
Thanks, any input positive or negative is always appriciated

Ok perfect. I have some more info from my (ex) AMR custom engine.
I had a 170mm crank pulley and for the supercharger a 75 mm pulley or a 55 mm pulley.
With the 55 mm Pulley on the AMR 500, the engine was very fast
only I had oil temp issues.
With he 75mm pulley it was easier to drive normal.. (specially in a Splitscreen ) and the engine stayed a bit colder.
I had the following setup:
stock 1500 H engine case (small oil drills)
1600 DP heads + cil (intake modified)
1600 DP intakes (modified)
1.25 rockers
Custom exhaust
Dellorto 40 MM DHLA carb (bigger gas jets then air)
AFR : Innovate MTX-L
AR was around 14.5 on idle, and +/-12 on high RPM..

Hey Udo,
Thanks for the info. I'll pass it on to my engine tuner!

The weather was nice so I pushed the bug out!

My engine guru is coming this Saturday to get it started and give it a base-tune. the week after we'll hit the dyno.

Re: Amr500 on 1641cc ! Fab. work is done, ready for dyno
Sooooo.
My tuner came this morning, car started up and we tuned the CO till we had lambda at 0.85 at idle.
It holds that value till the intake under the carb fully freezes. Then it stalls...
Even the bottom half of the carb froze...
Need to find a way to heat the intake manifold.
First thing i could think about was a set of radiocontrolled-model-car-tyre-heaters.
Anybody got some input on that?
My guy has to order some more jets and stuff like that when we get it on the dyno. Probably somewhere next week.
My home made intake didnt work. The normal air cleaner is back on. Kinda dissapointed.... ive put a few hours in that.... .
But it leaned out when it wants to build boost. Then lambda goes to 1.2
But the torque down low was definalty increased. We took it for a 5min trip around the block butdidnt gave more then 2500rpm because above that it leaned out. So building boost now would be a bad idea.
Anyways, it sits ready now to go to the dyno 7km down the road.
Greetz.

Can you plumb oil to the intake ? Lots of side draft turbos go that route.

Why would i want to put oil trough the intake?

What was the ambient temperature?

Not actually into the intake, but into a passage next to the intake. Allows the warm oil to add heat to the manifold.rubenski wrote:Why would i want to put oil trough the intake?

Oooooh, okay that makes sense...
But then an elektric heat pad would be easier. And cheaper to connect to 12v.
Looking for heating wire that i can wrap arround the intake manifold. Will look for that this week.
Anybody got any adresses or Webshop?
Ambient temp was about 5-8 degrees celcius.
Why?

Electric heat won't work, exhaust is the best way.

Why would electric heat not work? Care to explain?
Realy tought that was my ticket to succes. ?
Maybe i would make some kind of sock to wrap around it in some fabric and put a strip of velcro on it...

with the oil, i think it means to use oil in pipes to heat the inlet tract, wrap it around or the such like?
unless you can work out a way of piping the exhaust around the inlet in a similar fashion ...

Piping the exhaust around it is definatly impossible.
Will need some more info on the oil circulation. How and where to connect?
The sleeve with electric heat wires and a velcro dindnt seem like a difficult install.
Any input is appreciated!
