What is that sound? Is that thing propelled by compressed air?

The sound is from the Hewland gearbox.

Awesome car, do you have a rundown of the specifications of the car? I'm curious about it. What size engine? Fuel injected? Suspension and brakes? Thanks

My German is a little rusty but that is a 2L that started life as a Type 1. Add dry sump, add 2 overhead cams and heads from a 911, add fuel injection and stir until you hit 8k. Unreal. It would be tough to dream of that stuff even with an unlimited budget.

The interesting thing is this is not new as they developed/ evolved the motor in the early 80's!

I would love to terrorize the XP class with that set up.

Now that I read further I think the blue/green car has the OHC. The Silver car has a large type 4 with FI and Type 1 style Remmele heads.

Very nice sequential Hewland box!

I really need to start talking to some sponsors.

Thanks, excellent work you do! Does anyone still make the 2OHC cam parts for a T1 to 911 head conversion?

Thanks also for keeping the dream alive, I hope to build my bug up to something similar someday soon. I have a '73 with a half roll cage installed and 924T brakes all around, no motor at this point though and some front end alignment issues from an accident years ago.

Working on the Golf in the meantime, painting and replacing the engine and tranny(Quaifed).

Keep it up!
