Peter went to the dyno today and it delivered 255 hp @ flywheel and 285 nm. 51.5 mm IDA's are too small, engine did'nt get enough air. Cam needs to be moved too, powerband was way to low in the rpm range. 58 mm Berg IDA's are in the works 8)

ida's!!!!!!!!58bergs!!!
what you realy need are some 52mm throttalbodys off a tl1000(witch are 49mm bottom, 52mm plated and 55mm tops) with megasquirt or microsquirt and you will have all the air and fuel you will ever need.
good luck with your engine.....

The car and driver had the first run ever on the quater mile yesterday.Right off the trailer the first run was a very fine 12,8 sec run. Five runs in total before the rain sat in and best run was 12,14/110 MPH. A few pictures here http://vwnettet.dk/topic/153479/page/3. The 2779 cc oxy boxer is in the black 62 sedan with the rear wing. The engine still have'nt got the 58mm Berg carbs mounted yet, still "only" running 51,3 mm IDA's  .

The weather was bittering cold and the cars had to fight against a strong head wind, even the V8 guys was complainging and could see the lack of topspeed.
The track was unprepared. So the oxy boxer had a good debut and was the third fastest VW out of 6 vw in the event.

Very well done!
How much does the car plus driver weigh?

Don't have a clue about th weight

When the car was at the chassis dyno the dyno man said it was choking and thought that the carbs was too small. We have since then found out what was wrong, the cam was advanced 4 degree instead of retarded. My bad !! I had too much going on in my head when I assembled the bottem end of the engine  Now the engine feels MUCH more alive and it idles pretty fine at 1000 rpm. I think the engine pick up some more power after the cam was dialed in correct. It will might go to the dyno saturday.
