A fiber glass kit with steel support beams that could be welded or mounted to the rails might work. I am thing of welding under the pans with steel angle iron to stiffem up the undercarrage. This would be good for Cone racing. Plus Koni shocks are the trick.
I painted the floorpan in my Manx buggy with POR-15, 3 years ago there is no carpet over the POR-15 and when you get in a Manx buggy your feet/shoes slide across the floor everytime. After nearly 10,000 miles the POR-15 on the floor of my Manx has not worn off.
POR-15 is far from "short time".
Jerry...
68 bugnut-- his pans arent rusted, he just trying to protect them.
diamond plate is expensive and the rivets will rust out. not to mention if water gets in between the steel pan and your diamond plate, whats to stop the steel from rusting? nothing.
LISTEN to what people are telling you Jeff. fiberglass- NO. POR-15 or Rust bullet or rhino/herculiner-- YES! those products arent "paint" they are SEALERS that are designed to STOP rust and resist things like battery acid and water.
i always coat my pans, or any area that has the chance of having water sit on it for a while, or is hidden from normal view, coated in rustbullet and then covered with herculiner. iv never EVER had herculiner or rustbullet or POR-15 come off.

Point taken, I wasn't clear on what he was looking for...I also support the POR-15 votes
So I got a quart of Por 15 for a few years ago, and I'm thinking of going MasterSeries because the infromation and sales pitch tells me to ..
I've used Por-15 for 10 years and pretty pleased with results. I've even used it to coat my front floors and then lay fiberglass mat over top of that ( using the Por-15 as the resin ) and it's good for 9 years.
So, since vote is for epoxies, Por-15 or Master Series ? .. i need to soda blast underneath and coat under neath and inside of van ....
