Isnt the throttle body in the wrong place? As I understand it, it should be mounted in the middle between the two manifolds, after the intercooler, not before.
The effect of having the engine being able to pull the entire intake and intercooler into a vacuum will result in really doey throttle response, because once the throttle is cracked open the intake of air has to pull through a long intake, as well as the intercooler intake restriction.

It actually does not seem to make any difference at all where its mounted. The ECU does not "know" where it is mounted. You tune it to maintain a target setting.iswinkels wrote:Isnt the throttle body in the wrong place? Yeah I suppose there is an advantage to having the intercooler pulled into a vacuum. It won't heat soak as much at low engine speeds as there will be less air pressure inside the core, vs being before the throttle body where the pressure will be 1 atmosphere.
There is the possible safety issue though. If you blow an intercooler or other plumbing hose off it will be like full throttle. Sure there will be no boost, but a built engine will still make an easy 140hp without the turbo. Make sure your plumbing all has lips on it, and use really good quality bolt on clamps.
The high output rice burner guys that run 30+lb boost weld a bolt to each side of the plumbing at all joins, and then use two metal straps that tie all each join together over the top of the silicon hose joins. It still allows a little movement, but even if a hose is not 100% clamped on it will only leak under boost, and it eliminates the risk of blowing a hose off all together. Just a thought...

This will all fit in the engine bay?
How much does marty charge for that intake setup?
Thanks, And yes anything will "fit" if i make it fit... Its not all going to be in the bay.
You can ask Marty that question. You get what you pay for.
I have a 65 I am doing so I will keep my eyes on this post.

Got the deck lid all straightend out and primed. (broke all 3 studs of the lic. plate light housing(pope nose), damn rusty nuts...)
And the fan was powdercoated silver, didnt look real good. So i tried to polish it and gave up and primed it to smooth out the cast pin holes and ill repaint it gloss sivler.

And today i got one whole side blocked and ready for the second helping of primer and some new door hinge pins, and striped the inside of the doors to get ready fo paint.
