Every car has an electrical system. Here's the place to learn all about it.

I've done it with small stick on #s then put clear heat shrink over, and has worked well.

I was out buying parts for an upcoming harnes buildup..

Had a thought..

1 - Heat Shrink the terminals all in one color.
2 - Cable Ties in color codes over the heat shrink

I've noticed there are zillions of colors of cable ties... I"ve never had one fail... this would give us the option for white/pink being left light.. black/pink being right light etc.

I do like Bob's Clean (or sano) idea of high quality wire in one color.. I can never see the colors clearly on the factory loom anyways.

Sano?... man Timmy you are dating yourself with that one. I guess since you used that I can use Primo if anyone remembers that one.

I like the idea of the single color simply for financial reasons. After pricing the Cross-Link wire, the needed gages, and the multitude of colors, I might as well just buy a kit; the overhead for an electrical shop must be crazy. I think the idea of the cable ties is a good one also, the only drawback (if it is one) is maintaining a low profile to the wire. I'm going to give the colored shrink a go and see where that goes.

"primo".. that's trick

I sincerely believe you're going to be better off pulling your own loom.. kits seem to be lacking.

If I had a dollar for everytime I have heard that, then I could afford for someone to wire the car for me

Actually it's sincere.. I've never bought a loom that didn't end up adding on multiple extra wires and botching it all together.

time to resurrect this thread. i'm looking for an affordable marking solution, im thinking about something like the 3m dispenser #51300 or the pvc ones #52900 on this page

anyone here have experience with either? or a recommendation for labeling. i only really need numbers.

if we can put together a listing of the titles.. I have the $$$$ equipment to do thermal transfer on plastic (kimdura) labels.. the cost should only be a few bucks.

They're adhesive backed... basically the black (or colored) plastic letters etc are melted onto the plastic labels.

We use them on chemical bottles.. floor strippers.. phosphoric acid.. industrial drums (tolulene etc).
