Sand storm Old Baja #2

The spool of .023 was 100 feet away and I was feeling lazy. Today I vacuumed out about 200 #s of sand from the 1/4 panels, heater channels
,etc. It took about 3 hours with an air hose and shop vac to get the sand out. I spent another hour just cleaning the metal with metal prep and wax and grease remover.

i sandblasted the inside of my baja before i painted it with implement paint and i still have sand coming out of who knows where...

i recycled my sand too when i did it.....

Without STF I had a little time on my hands. I scanned some old pictures from when I started on this project.

THe 1/4 panel was beyond repair, there was 2-3 gallons of bondo in it.

I managed to get the sand out to start priming. I used Valspar DTM primer followed by ureathane primer surfacer.

While the inner a pillar was exposed the hot air wrench loosened up the stuck door bolts.

There was some serious rust on the lower hinge.

Its so much easier to block sand the doors off the car.

I was able to sand blast and paint the inner panels befor installing the new cover.

There were three cracks in the drivers door needing attention.

Even the sun roof was dented.

Judging by the amount of bondo for how big that hole is...

how could the PO EVEN THINK that bondo would be okay for that? wtf? that is insane.
