I like your bus fusername. It's got lots of charactor. I've always thought it would be fun to own a bus like that. You could get a lot of 'experience' in a bus like that . Your actually planning to part this thing out next spring?! That's gotta be a hard choice. Has the rust finally got the best of it?

Good to see it will spend its last days lifted and having fun. Remember, you'll have to slow down just a little bit more for the corners now . You should try and get some pics of your bus and Franz out in the dirt somewhere before it's all said and done.

that thing will be prety unstable! the buses are top heavy to begen with so lifted it will be even worse.

they are actually fairly stable, as long as you have proper and inflated tires under it. Its the wind that is killer. and I do mean killer. No question I am going to need to change my driving techniques to match the bus.I hate to confess but that pictureis totall BS. The rear tires are about a half inch abovce full droop, and the fronts are just wedged into the wheel well. here are some more photos, for kicks. wanna comment on my welds? they are deffinatly good enough, no question there, but if Ican do better I want to.










threw in one of the old ride height to show off the difference. when sitting on its wheels, I think the thing will be about 3 inches lower than it is on the jack stands.

A bus in Cali fetches a pretty good price. Even a rusty one. The floor, windshield frame, and roof rusts out even here. I gotta believe yours is worth more whole than in parts... maybe, maybe not.

Well I missed that, but I also get charged for every page I open so far this year I have 600 bucks in over charges. I have to watch how many clicks I make.

You might talk to Nilza, I saw a picture of the same bus lifted that he had.

He might be able to give you some ideas.

well apparently my math was only good on paper. I ended out lifting it 3 inches in the front, and it is .just. on the stops. If I put a wrench on the passenger seat, it will come off the stop, but man is it up there. Honestly I can't be too upset. I was telling myself if that happened i might tear it down and recut one bar a 1/8 or so back, but with two passengers up front it sags maybe an inch and half, and I have some super stiff shocks to help keep it off the bumps. Rear end took a couple of trys. i don't know what lotrat was complaining about, in the end I had it going pretty darn fast on off on off. still need to level out one side, but it is nice. I can't decide if I want it level w/ weight in teh front, or level empty and butt high when somone sits down. I tend to be carrying heavy things, so jacking up the rear a bit extra ain't the worst idea in the world to me, but she is already pretty high. after having it on jackstands soo long, when I put it on the ground I was thoroughly underwhelmed with the lift. while high, it doesn't appear lifted, almost like it could be factory. untill I saw it from the front. my god you can see daylight behind her. I am loving it more now that I know what I have done. If I can find another camerea, I will post up, but don't hold your breath. still have plenty to reconnect before I can drive it, need 1.85 worth of parts to show up in the mail to finish always the little things, that I break at the last second, and I am not takign chances w/ aged brake fluid seals

so moral of the story, lifting the front of your bus? 1/4 turn if you want to drive around town w/ a couple inches of travel left. dear jerk to who said 1/2 inch = two inches, I have a present for you, it is a sandwich.

if you can't find/borrow a camera, a simple drawing will suffice...

I don't know Herbie, I have seen his drawings. A picture would be just a bit better.
