(IIRC)

I'd go with rebushed SCAT I beams with 3/8" ARP2000 bolts tho, the stock rods BE don't hold up that great on a stock 2.1.

His newer killer motor had custom ross pistons and heavily reworked heads, should be able to find the details here in the forums.
Made stupid power.
Holy cow, that is like 500 to the crank.

If I could get 260 to the wheels that would shut me up.
The conversion doesn't look like its too bad.
I assume that the cams work from a T1?
Do you have to adjust heads on these buggers all the time?
Would a T1 head person be able to work on the T5?
How about the turbo set ups for these things- I can use any turbo I want now thanks to the addition of water  WRX turbos here I come!
Cams--- Mostly. If you stay with the T4 lifters it limits your choices severely.
Bushing for T1 lifters is not rocket science.

I'll have to digress on the valve adjustments as I ran hydros, but logically a water cooled motor woudl grow less, but the valvetrain still has all the limitations of a T1, for good and bad.

i'd limit my headwork to someone who knows WBX heads.

Any turbo can be used--- water cooling is not needed if you shut it down properly, it's for soccer moms.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

So you think that a couple holes for the coolant lines, a good radiator that can fit in the spare tire area and a fan- no holes in the front?
Also, do type 1 headers work on a type 5?
I take it the rockers and the valve covers are just like a type 1?

So the 260 to the wheels is very doable I take it?

T1 exhaust needs to be modifed (cut and turn the flanges on one side) plus clearance around the oil filter is an issue.
I've modified a full merged system and a heater exchange style.
Rocker covers are the same and rockers are interchangeable.
I've put a rad in the front of mine as it's a best choice for cooling.
The project is covered below.

Good luck

This is good. I was thinking (was looking at turbo systems) of going with a lowbugget system. They are affordable, and I have never really heard anything TOO bad about them. And since I am not looking for some 400 whp build I should be fine. I crunched the numbers and hell 230 at the wheels should put me safely in the low 12s- and they run systems draw through at lowush boost that put down the power I'm after. All I'm concerned about is the T1 cams and finding someone that can do a pocket port on the engine- like his engines have. Then again- month boost- it would fix that. I honestly think that this would be more... Well worth my money then some nutty little hopped up aircooled. What sites sell WBX engines for a reasonable price?

A friend turbocharged a 1.9 wbx using a renault 5 carb.
Basic setup but very effective.
I have one with a turbo off a tdi engine sitting the garage.
Was toying with the idea when I get a moment!
