Be careful, CIS parts collections tend to breed...

hey all, and thanks for asking 560.....progress slowed for a bit while some things were held up at the machinist and the temperatures have been slowing me as well but things are getting very close...all i have left is bending the return line and wiring stuff up....lemme get the pics hosted and ill post them here in a couple.......oh and yall are so very right about parts breeding, there will be an ljet and cis ad being placed here once im done with the build and can get all the excess bits and pieces together

Glad to here things are comeing along for you.
I did a good share of parts scrounging WAY back when Gary Miller was hot and heavy working with the CIS stuff.

bracket that holds the volvo air intake:
Image

bracket for the mb fuel pump/accumulator/filter assembly....it currently sits a few inches further to the front due to interference with the shift linkage:
Image

this is what im using for my fuel sump...its a filter assembly i found on a 70s alpha romeo spyder being used as a fuel filter...banjo on right is from tank, banjo on left is to pumps, right side of the double banjo is return line, left side of double banjo goes to aux heater and main tank return(see the welding on the big banjo, thats what happens when you try to use a left hand tap for a right hand threading....):

more in a few, dont want my food getting cold

heres the dpr and csv module....simple adjustable voltage regulator set at ~7.5v with a trimpot and then a 10 turn variable pot to set final amperage...the csv is just a momentary switch on 15...i wish i had put this on the ground side with it wired to the pump relay so no one can accidentally flood the engine , atleast its keyed and no one else is likely to drive the van anyways:
Image

heres where it sits in the cabin:
Image

since im no longer running the hx's, i dont need a fan on my alt...so that frees up some options...i made an adjustable mount and new bracketry to hold a 90 amp unit from a waterboxer:
Image

this is the air cleaner...i pulled it from a chrysler version of a neon, whatever that may be...it sits very comfortable behind the taillight and is held down by a spring covered with tubular webbing(pcv and evap are plumbed in to this as well):
Image

heres the boot im goin to try first...it has no accomodations for things like aux air reg or decel valve but hopefully i wont need them...if cold idle or backfiring are a problem i have another boot that will get used...the boot came from and early ford escort i believe and is a tight fit but it works....the adapter is an exhaust adapter from pepboys cut down:
Image

the bmw 320i plate with jetta dizzy and dpr...i had to drill and tap the plate for the dizzy to mount but everything looks kosher, there were differences in plunger height but appears to be within the adjustment range:
Image

far side injectors...this was a stumbling block for a while...i couldnt get the fittings pressed myself and no hydraulic shop could help(i tried dern near a dozen)...i bought ss tubing from mcmaster and migged it on...im curious if ill have to make any adjustments with the seating pressures in the dizzy due to the changes in line volume, one of the things ill find out when i do the first tests...if i have too much trouble or the welds leak i will buy jic or -an fittings to weld or braze and have some 3/16 lines made up:
Image

the next two arent the best of pics but gives and idea of the pump/sump mounting:
Image
Image

and thats pretty much where its sitting now...still lots of little things but really im hoping to put spark to it within two weeks; just have to decide on plug wires to use, flush and test the system, and buy a new extinguisher :)

The trick with the fittings is drill a slightly smaller hole than the hose between 2 bits of 2X4 in a vise and clamp the braided line. (flush)
Tap the fitting in with a hammer/drift
Prewarming the hose end with a hair dryer makes it easy.

I would suggest trying it again... with new line.

Pile, perhaps a writeup with pictures (more the pictures! :D) would be of great benefit to Mankind? Or at least, to CIS conversion enthusiasts? :D

I need to go around and find all the different instances listing what all you need to do to make new CIS injector lines, is all.

I was just giving due credit, not telling you to go RTFM.

You put the CIS inserts in exactly the same way any barbed insert goes in braided line or hydraulic line (if you want to go Google) except its small enough you can make the line holding "die" using 2 bits of wood in a vise and a hole down the gap whre the line gets clamped.

I've managed 3 hrs sleep in the last 2 days, I work graves and just "switched" for the weekend.
I'll see what I can do... Tomorrow.

I know that feeling. I just finished up my finals, along with working night shift myself. We're on off peak, which means I get to go back to seeing sunlight for a while, but it's still disorienting to make that switch. Sleep what you need, I can wait. :D
