Gents, there are anomalies as we've seen before with wasser heads, see my old post down the page, 'check your volumes' at least regarding German o/e ones, maybe AMC have rationalised things, the MV chamber is bigger than the D.J. as i keep seeing 18cc chambers against the DJ 15cc. these 18cc variant are likely european MV, i know this because ive removed o/e MV heads and cc'd them to 18cc. i have a picy of an MV chamber on p/b .....when i can log on to it...

Did a test with an old head (025 101 375 ) to make the chambers bigger....
The rough work did only take half an hour incl ports :o :o :o
I was afraid of going into the water... has someone a pic of a cutaway?

Thanks for input 8)

Now I got a head for some serious hacking
Herschaalde kopie van Afb0092.jpg
I've seen somewere on the web a picture of a wbx engine with aircooled cylinders and watercooled heads

I would like to know if someone did this mod for a street car. No studs to relocate, longstroke crank and cool heads. I would like to see a pic of the heads....

bulding a oxy boxer now , with air and oil cooling and stock wbx heads that gets oil cooilng instead og water.
the project started out to use water in the heads only with stock type cooling and a radiator /pump for the heads.. but have changed to oil cooling of the heads instead.
then i can use almost all the WBX parts, except cyl which is type 4 .

can post some pic's in a thread if there's any intrest

Interesting concept fasty, but oil wont do the job as a coolant. i'm using electric cooling anway on my okrasa, no stock pump, but i would recomend you use coolant on an expensive engine!!

of course it won't do AS good job as coolant, but it will do the job, take up heat and transfer it to an external cooler just for the heads.
the theory is to transfer the excessive heat away from the head due to the lower square area (no cooling fins) and into the remote oilcooler.
IIRC Oil has 1/3 of the thermal conductivity or what the name ,is compared to water.

I am sold. Instead of buying another set of heads for my nesk oxyboxer, I will go ahead and use some 1.9 liter heads. I have an extra set of 90mm copper head gaskets. All I need then is 6.3 rods and a set of 4ich bore Pand Ls. wasser heads port up nice. I will use the stock intake system and turbo it....400 horses for very little.................

Yes post some pics!! I would like to know how you plumb the coolant inlets to the heads.

limbach uses special heads... wich is no option for me :P

I like joevw's setup very much!

But why not with AC cylinders and WC heads?

Cheers

I always thought it would be neat to put a motorsycle radiator or two in a 911 fan housing setup---
You could use 2 small ones over the jugs to help moderate the temps.
