Re: Type 4 rallycross engine.
definitely follow the Bill Fisher manual on blue printing and porting your oil pump. The second stage needs a nice radius added to the inlet/outlet 90 degree holes.

Hello Jakob!Getbackontrack wrote:Hi Erling.. The Idea with the drypump pump is that it sucks oil right into the oil galleys from the extern oil tank, then the oil gets sucked back up to the tank from the sump through the original pickup... If the original pickup wasnt there, all the oil from you tank would end up in the sump in your motor.
Regards, Jakob
Of course it works like that! I didn`t think about that... Then I`m buiyng one of Thorstens pumps, it looks great!;)
This setup is the same that I run in the car today, but now I need a new pump, the other one gives to little pressure.
Thanks!

Thanks for your answers! Regarding the bushed rockers I don`t know, but I`m running the ones with bearings today, and they seem okey, haven`t had any trouble with them.
And when it comes to blue printing and Bill Fisher, I have just bought How To Hot Rod VOLKSWAGEN engine, and will look closely on how it`s done;)
Thanks for the tips!

Re: Type 4 rallycross engine.
Did Ahnendorp have this 21158 racing Käfer Cup exhaust. 1 3/4" primaries, 2 3/8 secondary, equal length, stub pipes in stock Steve? I`m curious about this one, it looks really good! And what`s the price?;) I guess this one is big enough for my engine... What about enough clearance for a bigger drysump pump?

Re: Type 4 rallycross engine.
I bought it in 2002. The price at the time was when 1$ = 1Euro. It was around $1000 as I remember. I significant chunk of money for sure. The Tangerine header wasn't being made yet so the BAS header was the only real high performance setup available.
It has very nice construction quality. The inside of the collector needs a little clean up/porting/grinding of the welds but otherwise it is the nicest VW exhaust I have ever had.

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Re: Type 4 rallycross engine.
I`m looking at this as well, without the muffler. It costs a lot, but I heard it`s a very good header!
They come in three sizes, 38mm/1-1/2", 42mm/1-5/8", 45mm/1-3/4" or 48mm/1-7/8"......
Maybe I should go for the 48mm/1-7/8"?
And adjust with the cone inserts CSP sells?

Re: Type 4 rallycross engine.
I`m not sure about this, but I found out that I`m going for the ones with roller bearings, since I got a set of them already. Then I got myself a spare-set, incase they break during competition.Piledriver wrote:Reference? Hmmmm. Looks like a pretty solid case, and it's not ONLY Jake seeing broken ex rocker issues.

Late? What happened? He and his car helped convince me to start my T4 conversion a long time ago on the original CLF.Wally wrote:Hey Ebjorkli,Ebjørkli wrote:Then I got myself a spare-set, incase they break during competition.

He died in march 2009, presumably heart attack or heart failure..Steve Arndt wrote: Late? What happened? He and his car helped convince me to start my T4 conversion a long time ago on the original CLF.
