If you are playing hard with a BJ beam I would consider changing over to Thing front spindles. I don't have pix available right now but I have posted them here before.

Where the change is that the stock BJ beam has the lower BJ pressed into the arm from the top side with the BJ facing up where the upper BJ is pressed in so the BJ faces down so the spindle is captured between the two arms.

The Thing's top is similar but the lower BJ is pressed in as the stock BJ beam does but the BJ faces down causing the spindle to be wider' e.g., not captured between the arms. This means that on a hard landing the lower BJ cannot be pulled out of the lower arm.

The spindles are expensive even used ones are and the upper adjuster is next to impossible to find but the stock upper BJ and adjuster, as I remember can be used.

I hope this is clear. I'll post pix when my computer is fixed or I I have then lost everything. I can redo the pix if necessary.

I don't mean to be negative at all, but I must assume 18 inch wheels would be substantially heavier than a comparable 15 wheel. Unless your brakes are so big a large diameter wheel is required I would suggest going to a smaller wheel if only to reduce unsprung weight. Even if you simply like the 18s, perhaps get a set of something smaller and swap out wheels/tires at the venue.

I plan to get a complete front end from iMohr but for now I have some hubs drilled for the 5 x130 bolt pattern and some brake caliper brackets setup.

I'll look into the spindle, I'm not sure its a real advantage.

Yeah wheels are tricky once you get in the the 5x130 bolt pattern, shits not cheap. I do plan to get some Braid wheels once I become competitive and need the weight reduction.


Also I'm not sure if I ever said what I'm doing with this bug. I'll be tracking mostly at Sonoma Raceway as that track is about an hour away which is the closest to me.

Every thing in the video looks really good. Have you checked your toe at ride height?
Are you going for 0 ('cos the tyres are so big) or a touch of toe in?
on my Ghia I had to do a bit of grinding on the spring plate slots to stop the porsche arms towing out!
