oh my that must be a loud car. But yes i can flip the throttle body with no problems, but the wiring loom and iacv are in the way, plus there is just not enough room for the arm to get a full swing to full throttle.
one of my other cars is a chevy blazer (booo) and i think i am going to try something like its accelerator cable..

Dont know if anyone is still reading, but i ran solid fuel lines the other day. i was wondering if it is possible to have air locks in the fuel line. i forgot to take pictures, but i ran 5/16 solid lines where those green plastic charcoal canister lines used to go. thing is i ran them up over the wheel well to keep it out of the way and lessen my own fear of lines coming undone. then i couldnt get the engine to fire, but i dont have a surge tank and cant remember how much gas is in the tank. when i ran the pump i was getting the tiniest bit of flow thru the return though.

Well thats good to know. Ill have a bit more updates tomorrow and the next day i think. right now the engine is all over the ground. spent a good chunk of change on a new laptop so i have to wait till next paycheck till i can get the radiator and lines. im running the standard golf aluminum rad and rubber lines. i know rubber isnt ideal but its what i have to work with. still working out the header tank situation. im hoping to run it thru the heater lines.

hadnt planned on it. its 112 degrees outside right now lol. ill be running a ac eventually though

edit: bit of an update today. Got my truss brace and brand new transmission mounts installed. forgot to take a picture of course. re installed the engine and damn near broke my fingers trying to tighten the nut onto the stud that goes thru the starter. i almost went up top and cut an access panel in the package tray. still dont know if i have something wrong with my fuel lines or if my tank is just empty, but i got my return line all plumbed in and finalized. just about all that is left is cooling at this point. there is a little bit of wiring to be done but its mostly just taping and shaping the harness..

As long as you have a good gravity feed to the pump (or surge tank positive feed) you wont have any issues with air locks in fuel lines.

By any chance did you put any fancy loops in the line for "purdy" or to shorten the lines up so you didn't hae to cut them or to make the angle of connection easier (remember, show cars don't always get driven or may not run other than the few seconds that some of the venues require)? Fuel, as well as brake lines must be as straight and level on the long runs as you can make them otherwise the humps, bumps and loops are places for air (if you have any) to collect.

The connectors are another place for air to get in the system. They may not leak but air is thinner than liquids. I had a brake line do that; the bubble at the end was slightly miss-formed and air could get in.

Thankfully my break lines are all good. but my hard fuel lines are straight along the heater channel the only curves being in the rubber lines that connect the return to tank and supply to the pump and at the engine of course.

Inside the gas tank you will need a baffle to keep the fuel from sloshing around side to side as you corner. I added a 2.2 liter slosh tank on my manx because my gas tank sits at a different angle and my fuel line comes off the middle of the tank. If you have low fuel in the tank that is sloshing back and forth you can experience air getting into the fuel line.

yeah i know im gonna need an external tank. just running rather low on funds again. im trying to get the cooling system set up pretty soon. I thought i remember someone saying they never ran a surge tank but i just dont see it working in my application anyway.

So my wonderful girlfriend doesn't want to drive me round anymore, so i made a couple phone calls and came home with a vw1600 a few hours later.
a few hours after that i have an engine installed and a couple trips to the vw store and now i have a baja looking 1600 in my super beetle lol.

yeah i know it looks stupid, but it was getting late and i was supposed to drive the thing home so i needed a license plate. dont worry the lid had a huge dent in it and i have another for when the subie goes back in. the vw engine is going to get built up a little bit and go into a baja when i finish this project though. its so easy working on vws to be honest. i told my girlfriend id be back in two days with a working car lol. felt like some RoadKill nonsense though. oh well i guess im gonna get everything sorted so all i have to do is swap the engines out when im ready.

im thinking bout going ej25 though. i dont run bumbers on my car but i do like my fenders. i dont want to move the engine back though. oh well something to think about.
