71 Baja build

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

That is more or less what I am trying to come up with but I have more restrictions and am dealing with fiberglass.

After a lot of arguing with myself: you might want to look into adding a cross-piece where the uprights between the upper and lower tubes are just to be sure the upper tubes (they are long) don't want bend at the upper bend in the tube as it goes into the body in some potential load conditions.

Yea, it will be braced. Going to mount gas tank up there.
Good. With so many moving the tank to different locations you just don't know from pix. It's funny but something seemed wrong (incomplete) but I couldn't figure it out 'till...

Sweet looking build. What did you use to sleeve the tubes?

Just picked up a Honda J35a. Now to figure out some things before I start the swap. Any knowledge on harnesses would be appreciated.

Questions for a question. Do you plan on using a stock setup or aftermarket?

Using stock setup. Just want to flip intake around.

Gotten different information on this. I ve been told I can use stock harness and would just need to extend sensor wires to reach. Also been told that need to extend sensor wires and flip the harness so the plugs line up with the same injectors.

Harness would need to match oem cylinder location, which injector is spraying into that cylinder doesn't matter. Someone can correct me if necessary, but that is logical on most engines.

Been awhile. Working a lot. Haven't gotten a whole lot done. Have tank remounted to make room for a radiator eventually. Picked up a really nice fiberglass front end that had never been mounted. Got new master and front brake lines all done. Have everything for the rear just need to make time. Pulled the trigger and put a deposit down on a mendeola 2D. Figured pay once cry once Very Happy

For what it is worth... do not forget to somehow come up with a Truss/Kaffer bar setup for the trans mount forks. With what looks like a large fuel tank in the area your usable area is getting smaller.

If possible I would recommend hooking the truss/kaffer bar up to the down bars of the rear cage hoop thus transferring loading into the cage.

Also, if you are also going to use an engine that is not a ACVW (a heavier water pumper) there is going to be more than a little weight behind the trans... maybe also figure out an engine mount (I am also dealing with the same quandary) that is connected to good structure.

It's been a while since much has been done. Work and family take up a lot of time lately. I just picked up my adapter kit from Kennedy Engineering. Trying to find a radiator that'll work upfront. I don't have the room in the back as it's being built as a 3-seater and I don't really care for the radiator over the motor look. I found a griffin radiator on summit https://www.summitracing.com/parts/gri- ... ?rrec=true that is the perfect size for where I have to mount it. Also figured out what headers I'm getting just need to order them. Working on what to take off the motor that I don't need anymore and what to block, plug, etc.
