Old thread, and I hope you see this, though this is off the true topic of the thread.

What side mirrors are you running on your car? I've never found the factory mirrors to have an adequate size (or perhaps it's how they're located), but I absolutely want to use the factory mounting holes, as it appears you have. The mirror shape you're using really suites the aero look of your car

I currently have the typical black plastic flag style mirrors on both sides, but with a 2 inch long (~50mm) cylindrical extension turned from delrin rod. This works great and places the mirrors well to function as expected, but doesn't look as nice as I hoped. I will live with them as is unless I can find a more attractive but equally functional alternative.

Your mirrors almost look like Vittaloni California mirrors adapted to factory mirror stalks (ala Gerrelt). If this is the case, how do you like the size of the mirrors relative to functionality?

I did use the factory mirror stalks. The mirrors are from a local Falcon GT. I had cut the stalk off them and get them welded up and smoothed over and then drilled and taped the VW stalks. My mate who did the welding said that they were hard to weld as they were die cast. Hopefully the photos will help you understand what I did.

Sorry I forgot to say the mirrors are little small but look good.

On my old 1302 I used mirrors from a later Falcon the same as model as one in Madmax or Road warrior. They were a little bigger

You definitely know how to make your cars look pleasing to the eye.

After making my above post, I did a bunch of research about side mirrors including a 14 page thread where a bunch of Porsche 911 guys installed Vittaloni Mach 1 mirrors to replace the factory flag mirrors. My conclusion is I'm just going to live with what I have. My flag mirrors have a very good visual range, but are placed too close to the body when installed as they come. The vent wing divider is right in the middle of the viewing area which makes a horrible blind spot. I had a machinist buddy turn a pair of 2.5 inch long delrin extensions. They really made the mirrors 100% functional, but they looked too thin and long. I then bought larger diameter rod and had him make a pair that were 2 inches. These maintained the full functionality of the mirrors, and looked far better. I am just going to leave well enough alone.

Your yellow 1302 was inspirational when I saw it back in the 90s and it's hard to believe your orange 1303 is even nicer. It's quite beautiful. Thank you for the quick response.
