Hmm… with a little 3D printed cover that might do for a permanent solution.

I'd just use a rubber boot like the injector ones but bigger.
Anyway i just tested it and it's good for 260 hp with only a slight drop in pressure from 3 bar any more flow than that and it can't keep up.
I don't know what a gravity fed 8mm line will flow as my test rig doesn't have that so I just hooked it to a 3.5psi Carter rotary to fill the pot.
It's very quiet, doesn't leak and seems pretty well made.

That’s way better than I expected :)
Thanks for sharing the info

No problem.
This pump coupled to an OEM filter/regulator is an ideal solution to converting to Efi and only costs about $60 add in some 8mm fuel line and a few fittings still less than $100

That is my plan :)
Add a Mahle KL156/1 to provide filtering & 3bar regulator, and it’s a good low cost set up.

Also need to get the 8mm tank outlet fitting, but that seems to be out of stock at the moment.

I bought a full Mexican EFI engine a couple years back, came with the full fuel system including the factory pump. The plan was to put the setup in an early bus. I decided not to use that pump, looked nasty, and honestly I didn't really trust it 2nd hand. But I liked the idea of it. Are you guys just grabbing this off of AliExpress or similar?

We can pick them up from eBay.

Example but plenty of options at the moment:

Excellent! Thanks! Cheap enough to buy and use or not use and not feel too bad.

Not sure why you would buy it and not use it ?
On that Ebay ad It's listed for use on an Audi A3 and a TT which is enough proof that it's good for 200hp
Even with a single 8mm gravity feed the capacity of the tank would make it'd be good for a 11 or 12 second 1/4mile
and you could quite easily connect two feeds using a screw on tee from the tank
So what applications would rule it out as a viable option for any NA aircooled engine ?

Seems like a good option for most NA applications. Would need to be fairly extreme engine to pull down the fuel pressure. You can also split the case to clean out the filter mesh, if it’s a used item.

I can't see any downside to using it except maybe longevity or compatibility with E85 but for $35 it could treated as a service item.
The filter mesh is a bonus and I'll have a look at that once I finished flow testing some injectors

I agree with all of the things you've said. I had honestly planned on doing an in tank setup in my bus, serviceability has been my biggest hesitation there. Also the bus will be turbo'd and may potentially see e85 at some point. However it won't be a monster. 1600 for now, td04 turbo. I doubt it'll knock on 200hp. I really only want around 130hp out of it. Gotta keep up with the wife's minivan

Turbo is possibly its weak spot. The pump would have to push 3bar plus whatever boost you set, & still flow the required volume. The pump is rated at 3bar so it might not go much higher than that.

The common way to rig a turbo fuel system is to use a rising rate pressure regulator but for low boost applications I
don't think this is needed and I haven't seen this on a modern fuel system for a while , running higher fuel pressure
of 4 bar and up to 7 bar seems to be the way they are going

Modern direct injection systems use a fixed rate electric pump to provide decent flow / pressure & a mechanical pump to take that and raise it to much higher psi for the injectors. Probably doesn’t need the boost referenced adjustment?
