Re: Slow burn project
Looks like you have more than "limited hours in CAD". Pretty impressive so far.

Re: Slow burn project
Thanks
I self-taught myself over the last 12 months, doing small functional parts. Professionally, I do application dev, solution architecture etc which I feel uses a similar mental process.
Loaded the Speeduino firmware and successfully connected to Tuner Studio. Still waiting for a dip socket to finish the soldering.

Re: Slow burn project
Simple case designed and printed. Will sit outside the engine bay so only printed in PLA+.

Just need to print the end cover.
Test print of the throttle body pulley went okay. Will reprint in Nylon CF in the next day or so (filament has been in the drier for a few days, which is necessary with Nylon)

Re: Slow burn project
Thanks
Pulley now fitted to the throttle body & looks like it will work. I had to add a penny washer to spread the load of the nut as it was compressing the nylon. Forgot to take a photo but do that later.
End cover of ecu case failed to print twice. Need to diagnose the problem. Might be a bad roll of filament, a worn print nozzle (CF is bad for that) or a settings issue. Will figure it out.
Need to order the Bowden cable parts. Inner cable, conduit, threaded adjusters, ferrules, etc. will make a linkage similar to the sync-a-link style.

Re: Slow burn project
Ended up replacing the printer nozzle as the CF filament is hard on them. That sorted the printing problems.

Will need to add more clearance around the MAP sensor as the vac hose will need more room.

Re: Slow burn project

Began the strip down of the original bike loom.
The injectors have a small extra loom, which will need extending to reach the right head. The matching plug (bottom centre of photo) comes with some wire but maybe not enough the reach the ECU. Will also save the Idle stepper plug.
Might also use 1 or 2 of the relays, plus the mini fuse block and some of the spare wire, to make up other parts of the loom.
I’ve also now got the Coil pack plug plus the temp sensor connectors (usual EV1 mini timer plugs)

Re: Slow burn project
Not much to update.
Some parts arrived (tank fittings & exhaust parts).
Crank trigger solution is in progress. Trying something a bit different so it may not work out.
Hopefully make some progress over the weekend but unlikely to finish any key components as I’ll have bits to order.

Re: Slow burn project
Speeduino looks pretty useful now, watching... but I have way too many projects already going so it may be awhile.
I have been keeping an eye out for an old pick-and-place tool being retired so I can build a proper 3d printer.
They usually have COTS servo drives and controllers, just have custom software the makers like to abandon eventually...
Usually easily replaced with a linux box running EMC2 for a mill setup or printer version of same.
Familiar with how GM (or maybe racers trying to get consistent AFR for carbed turbo motors) set up the manifolds for Corvairs? the feeds were offset from center and the front/back legs were odd lengths that actually resulted in pretty balanced AFR mix.(some experimental setups the front to back logs went past the ports quite a bit)

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Re: Slow burn project
Little bit of time spent on the loom today, extending the various connector wires with crimped barrel connectors & heatshrink. Far from a finished job
however.
Original fuel rail connector floats between the two fuel rail pieces so that won’t work now they are separated. Did some measuring today & will see what I can come up with in CAD. Also need to order vacuum hose (4mm & 8mm I think). The larger bore stuff is used for the idle bypass which is controlled in one throttle body & shared with the other via 2 pipes.
Crank trigger solution didn’t work, so will need to rethink that. Paul’s hub & pulley combo might be worth the money to save personal R&D time but I’d rather use a hall sensor and not a VR sensor & his comes with a VR item. Other option is to go back to a distributor based solution, which I’d previously considered (similar to Pile’s).

Wideband kit arrived.

Some wiring & vac hose arrives today. Hopefully some more progress at the weekend but other life stuff is likely to take priority soon.

8mm vac hose arrived except it wasn’t. They sent 6mm by mistake and in the wrong colour too.
Modern high resistance HT cable arrived. Coated Kevlar conductor inside. As hoped it looks like it will work with the original spark plug connectors. Already have the M4 terminals for the coil pack.

Re: Slow burn project
Prototype solution for the fuel rails. To keep it simple & reuse the Honda fuel rail I need a new connector.
The original uses a floating tee piece but with the throttle bodies split that won’t work.
End of the fuel rail looks like this:
