The temp are alot lower than your freezer can handle (only if it was that easy). Can't remember how low it goes but I'm guessing hundreds below (maybe even -1000??)

Well absolute zero is -459 F and -273 C, so I don't think it can get any colder than that!

This must be a process, it cannot just be frozen...
My guys have 31 different cycles that they process parts with. The rate of temp drop is controlled to the point they specify, then parts are held there for a duration of time, which is heavily dependant on the content of the part...Lastlythe rate that the part is brought back to room temp is controlled..
If parts are frozen, and brought back too quick, theu will crack, and aluminum can disintegrate...I once saw him freeze a Banana...He dropped it on the floor, and it exploded, like a glass....
It takes him 3 days to complete a process most of the time, so it is not really simple..

Well guys I finally made it. Jake was right we have been covered up with some major projects for some of the teams in Mooresville. This is a great forum you have going here and I would be glad to answer any of your questions. Please keep in mind I travel a good bit and I will answer your questions ASAP.
To FASTFOOD My wife and I have a deal I don't put parts in her freezer and she wont quick freeze here beans and other veggies in our processing chambers. Our chambers would work well for her but her freezer will not get down to over -300 Deg. F. Which wont help me at all.
I have to give credit to Type11969 (Chris) you definitely paid attention in class and you remembered correctly. However as to making a component more brittle this is only true if the processing is not performed properly. All of our CTC (Custom Thermal Cycling) processes are computer controlled to 1/10 of one degree to assure not only repeatability but also maximum gain to be achieved. All of our processes are 100% dry meaning the components never come in contact with the LN2. As Mr. Massive stated we have over 30 different profiles we perform on components depending upon Material, Mass, Cross section and Desired results so you can see this is far from just dropping parts in LN2 and WHALA they are done. Cryogenics is only part of the process hence the name Custom Thermal Cycling. There is also a transformation of Austenite (soft unstable grain structure) to Martensite (a stronger more stable grain structure). This transformation improves the durability of your engine and transmission parts. We also see 3 to 4 times the life of brake rotors for patrol cars as Lo Cash Lester was referring to. As for Aluminum and Magnesium cases there is a theory, and as of yet it is only a theory but it does work well and we are working on accumulating the metallurgical data. That since there is no Austenite to transform to Martensite in Alum. of Mag. What takes place and improves the cases is due to extreme thermal compression forcing the grain structure tighter due to uniform thermal contraction.
If any of you are considering having parts processed by someone other then us be sure you have them done by someone deep and I do mean DEEP into the motorsports industry. There are some providers who service the motorsports as a sideline so watch out! Feel free to call or E Mail any Questions.

Hey guys here is some info, not about engine parts but about brake rotors.
A few weeks ago we attended the Pettit La Mans at Road Atlanta. Well in our visit around the pits we had a chance to talk at quite some length with some of our customers in the American La Mans and the Indy Lights as well as some of the other divisions competing that weekend. The response was the same “Brake fade, Rotor and Pad Wear has been significantly reduced. As well as reduction in warping and cracking. Operating Temps are down at least 100 to 200 Deg. F. Pad life increased 20% to 40% Rotor life up 2 to 3 times the life. Now this road course is fast with extremely hard braking points through out the course. Now on to the street. Hall County Fire Services recently completed testing of our CTC process on Rabestos rotors for their patrol cars. These are 1998 to 2000 Performance Crown Vics (Sorry it was not for air cooled power plant driven vehicle) Maybe the web police will forgive me for even talking about a water cooled on this forum,
Just this once. “PLEASE?” They were going through rotors between 12,000 to 16,000 Miles now they are at 63,000 Miles and still running. Here is the letter they sent us.
To: PERFORMANCE CRYOGENICS
From: HALL COUNTY FLEET SERVICES
“The first phase of our test with our Custom Thermal Cycled rotors is complete.
It was a total success. We have been looking for solutions for our brake problems for years, and apparently we have found one. The testimonies of our officers continue to support your claims. Our worst problem seems to be solved. Brake fade has all but disappeared. Every officer has claimed this. They love it. Also the mechanics are not seeing the wear that occurs with non-cycled rotors. After 63,000 miles the rotors appear brand new, with NO heat checking, No ridge forming where the pad doesn’t touch the rotor and NO warping!”
Improved consistent brake response and control.
“Just imagine the saving on warped rotors along with an increase in mileage”
