Body filler on bare metal or over primer
wetsand filler? I was taught to apply filler to bare metal and use a cheese grater. These days most of us scuff with AT LEASt 80 to acheive good mechanical adhesion then spread it on and shape it with 80 on a DA or by hand depending on the location of the dent. Glaze over that if needed sand with 180 and feather with 250 prime and go the the next one.

wow...
Where there seems to be differences of opinion out there on this topic.
During the process of restoring my car it was blaseted then etched...It now sits in the corner of my shop ...2 yrs later. Now in that time I have recieved several suggestions that dupont reccomends that you take it to metal to apply filler then no you probally shouldn't do that...6 of one and 1/2 dozen of the other.
I decided to sand the rough spots off and lead the places that needed to be filled...problem solved.
I mean does it really matter either way? As long as your prep work is good and you are doing it correctly and make sure that all of the corrosion is gone and the car is sealed it should have a long life.
Again just another opinion in a sea of them
normally in our shop we take it to metal then apply filler...
wet sandinding filler is a bad idea also...it will asorb water and plus it is prone to cracking after it has been saturated
