I'm glad to hear you have some serious motor in your Ghia now. What carbs do you have?

I've had some fuel problems I've been woking on. Just recoated the tank the other day, and am looking forward to driving again.

Get some dual CHT guages if you haven't already. They are worth their weight in gold!

My guess is he still ha short gears... so it may have been sliding the gears on the shaft instead of spinning the tires on the asphalt..

That much torque can spin 3, 4th gears on their shafts with no issue at all.

Yeah I need to get Dual CHTs. I think it's the way to go. I have some 44 IDFs. I got them with the engine, and so far they seem to be almost spot on. I still want to take them apart and see what their specs are. i will check to see what pushrods I have(believe it or not, when i took the 1/2 head off I didn't pay attention, but they looked Chromo, not aluminum.

Not wet at all, dry as a bone. Just small stock tires and a heavy foot. Adrian ad HF did a great job on these heads though. I cannot wait to hook up all the gauges to get the complete readouts.

I had a bad issue with the fuel tank when i first got the Ghia. I was plugging the stock carbs almost daily. Then I said f-it,. and bought a new gastank and coated it with POR.... problem solved. Plus, the inside is silver now, and I can see everything in there

Good choice if you haven't done it. I seriously need to brace the rear and make sure the body doesn't twist too much.

Well, I can see how that could be possible, so that is why I am looking into a new tranny, just in case. Cheap insurance if you ask me. I know for a fact it was tires I was smoking, there was a trail from my building complex's driveway all the way to the next block and a half

You need a "B" gearbox- I have them on the shelf....

hmmmm.... how much with shipping? nevemind, I saw the site. Hmm... Jake, do you need to know what diameter tires I will be running? it is going in the Ghia for sure, and with me in it, it's almost 2000lbs.

I have to wait to see what the rim / tire combo will be. I am shooting for close to stock -/+ half inch. What tranny mounts would you recommend? do you sale HD ones? Would it be advisable to get the Berg front frame mount?

Use stock mounts... I stay away from urethane and solid mounts..
Use the GB 643 intermdiate mount and a CSP torque bar and you'll be fine and won't have vibes from the mounts.

Good to know. I have the TG fab, and I think that will help abput the same. So far, no wheel hop, which is good. I will let you know as soon as I get the rims and tires mounted and we can discuss the transaction. I want to make sure that when I buy the tranny, that is all I need to do.

Tire diameter for our year was 25" - just between 155 and 165's.

My favorite tire calculator is here. I think of it as the Google of tire calculators - simple interface and good results.

If you are still thinking about 10 spokes you can test fit my spare; it has a 165 on it.

I've been having fuel?carb problems. I just recoated the tank with the POR kit, but have not put the tank back in. I am running 2 filters with the pump and `1 at each carb, but something is making its way to the jets. I clean them out and it runs great until they foul again.

I'll get to the bottom of it though!

I'm running a generic filter before the pump and another one after it. One in the engine compartment. I wonder if the dirt is getting through the air filters. I had this problem before. I took a good coating of filter oil and did the grease trick reomnded on the filter tops and bases. No issues since.

On another note, I think I may need a bigger muffler in the future.

If you have the 2.5" magnaflow and go larger you will LOSE power- thats dyno proven.
