Motorbreath53's Baja... is still ALIVE

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

Unfinished Spindles...

Bulkhead atop my 53' Chev... (aka the 10 year parts collection)

The unfinished plate uppers that came with the front end...

Be sure to go public with the toe, camber, and caster figures when you cycle it for the first time... 8)

It's not complicated, it's just expensive...

I know... and I feel like a failure too...

...but not all of us can have hand-made balljoint arms... and one-off custom KYB's......maybe my next car will be more like one that has been built 10,000 times before.

So, I talked the wife into allowing some "upgrades" to the shop while I had the plumbing apart for our tankless waterheater install...

...just need the fridge, and i'll never have to leave the garage again.

..and then some fun photo's of dismantled smurfs, and the approx. increase in size I should see... (just like the Enzyte commercial said!)

(and no.. the small block is not going in the baja... though I have dreamed about it.)

damnit huckleberry... don't encourage crap like that. I have fought with myself 15 times about that same idea.....

That 383 weights round' 600lbs... and makes MAYBE 300hp.... (more with better heads/cam etc...)
The ecotec should weigh about 350lbs... and should make about 170hp... (with NOTHING changed)
Power to weight, the ecotec wins.

The 383 would DESTROY an 091... and therfore would require a 2D...
Ecotec could get away with an 091 for a bit...at least a season with calm driving...(and be fuel injected)
cost, Ecotec is cheaper...

The only REAL pro's that I could give the V8 is the AWESOME v8 sound, and that it would look absolutely sinister.

How friggen far are you extending that dragster?
Hot, humid air is less dense than cooler, drier air. This can allow a golf ball to fly through the air with greater ease, as there won't be as much resistance on the ball.
