So I FINALLY made an attempt at installing the bling (Serpentine Belt System) I won awhile back. Took forever to get the Scatt sand seal. No one stocks it locally. Anyways, I get the generator pulley on, press in the sand seal, bolt on the crank pulley, and then come to the serpentine tensioner. The instructions say to remove the front two generator stand studs.

What the heck! I'm not in the mood to take everything apart to get those studs out. Guess I'll see if I can find a pair of low profile nuts to get them out.

Just for giggles see if you can't get two (other) nuts on there, lock them together and see if the stud will come out. You could get lucky. You are probably due.

Two stripped nuts... Time for some heat.

This is one of those simple things that turns ugly. I can feel it in my bones.

So I was right... It got a ugly, but not the way I thought. I got the studs out with some heat and a stud remover. I put the whole thing back together and find that I have an alignment issue. My generator is 10mm out of alignment.

Ken at MST said I need to pull my generator and fan shroud back 10mm to get it into alignment, but there isn't any slop to do that. I don't have 10mm behind my carb. The assembly won't move that far anyway.

I have the issue posted in the T1 forum if anyone has some insight.

Not 10mm's. The generator stud is only 10mm long.

I had the alignment issue with my stock pulleys too. I just kept a spare belt in the car. I thought it would have been chewed up, stretched, or broken by now. I have a few thousand miles on the car and the belt never even loosened up, so I just left it alone. The serpentine belt isn't so forgiving. I need to get the pulleys within 1mm.
