68-71 Bays came with T1 motors, they stretched it a bit in 72 for the T4.
The upright conversion is the sane choice on an early Bay.

The cali conversion is pretty sweet to and a few cents cheaper.

And quite a bit not so great at cooling, no thanks. I'll be buying a dtm from Jake, I'm not a "if it isn't cheap I Wong buy it Vw guy".... I also don't like custom hacks soon gsxr throttle bodies. It needs to be pro and look like it was made that way.

That's kinda what doing this is about right?

As far as the DTM goes. if you have the dime it's the clear choice, if only due to complete lack of temp variation data and probable variability of a home fabbed Cali setup...
Especially in the Bay Bus application.
OTOH, several folks have had no issues with it, I can personally verify it works fine in a T1.
Also... It would take a lot to convince me anyones aftermarket ITBs are even equivalent quality to Minkunis...
All that is needed is a decent manifold adapter and throttle linkage.
If someone were to make custom manifolds for the common GSXR TBs, it would be a no brainer.
IIRC, some of the Honda ones get the spacing right.. the bolt pattern is slightly off, easily cured...
Some Alfa TBs even get THAT right, and IIRC will bolt on to Weber manifolds like factory, and are 36mm, likely a good size for a Bus.

I hear ya, I'm thinking the CB ones at 48mm may be too big for a 1.7L type IV... Are there any others?

I posted as you did, IIRC the Alfa ~36mm ones should be ~ideal.
(lookin for a link...)
I think they make be 40s, 16V 1.7L alfa 33.
The 36mm ones IIRC were off a Honda 4 cylinder bike, might work even better.
Poke around in this forum, I saw the thread recently.

Oops, I see it now. I didn't see any webber manifolds with injectors bosses in them like the CB end castings for type 1's, is there such a beast?

Nope but the hack ones i'm going to sand cast will have bosses with the injectors pointing at the back on the valves, unfortunately for you it doesn't have a fancy company logo on it.

Come on now, don't get all but hurt, I just put the tip in!

It seems Putting mega squirt on a type iv motor without using the stock manifold is more difficult than on a type 1 engine. I've been a real fan of the dub shop for type 1 EFI mega squirt stuff. I don't think he does type iv stuff though...

Nick, are you going with oring seals and hold downs to avoid the whole rubber boot thing?
(I hope)

True if you only consider "off the shelf" as a source...
There are many types of nice weld (or epoxy) in injector bungs, you could easily make a drill jig using one of the stockers as a reference..

And that is why I am making my own manifolds, nobody makes any for type 4's. For you some 48mm CB tb's, CSP mani's with welded on bungs, and a link-sync cable linkage to compliment your DTM shroud so you can brag to all your friends. meanwhile my gsxr TB's, my hack mani's, stock cooling, and my DIY cable linkage does the job and then some for next to nothing.
Greg- I'm going to use spigot flanges, i just can't think of a better way to do it.

What friends?

I'm trying to avoid doing welding, you know, since I can't do it, and people I know that can, can't be bothered to help me with my turd of a bus project... So I need bolt on stuff, and I don't mind paying, since I have to pay for welding and fab help. My bus makes your notch look concourse!
Also I don't think CSP manifolds will work on a type iv? I could just buy some type iv webber manifolds and weld in injector bungs, but I'm having trouble finding places that sell type iv parts, hence my love affair with Jake Raby, he sells all kinds of stuff for the type iv...
