Why STF?-Why are you here????

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

How about sharing some of those huh?
If I don't use them, I give them away. I'm down to a pair of bald 7.00x15 tires, a 12 yo 30" BFG AT on a 4 lug wheel (holding air), and a pile of T2 CVs, stubs, and flanges, and some misc 4 lug drums. Whatcha need?
LOL ummmm, I'm good for now man.

I have to agree with the group size and members. Feels more comfortable and not as if your a grain of sand at the beach. We all have a idea of when we are playing and when we are serious. Some forums always have a aggressive deragatory response to anything posted and becomes just ugly. Nothing like offering a opinion and have someone "what if" it to death. Here we elaborate and respect each other. I feel I can post a comment and if the context doesn't come across as intended, most know me enough to know I mean no disrespect or ill intentions. Overall we are lurkers, but feel more comfortable coming back home to STF to post and play.
I would go on but my legs are numb, I am at work and time for a courtesy flush!

In the Beginning...... aw heck just read the rest of that story here. To this day I don't remember typing any of that.

There is a difference between helping me get up off my lazy butt, and kicking me because you can, and that is the fine line this crowd seems to understand well. When I am guilty of the needless flaming I get called on it, as it should be.

I can co-exist here with my simple stuff without pressure to upgrade (usually  ) and the members here understand when I reach my limit (building, buying) and I am no longer having fun then the callouts are not necessary.

However, when the callouts are necessary, this crowd dishes it in spades!
So you think your project is taking forever eh? Well you've got nothing on me.....

I was invited here by David58 when I first started posting my project in the Forced Induction Forum. I was afraid all my goofy modifications would be laughed at by all the true off-roaders here. While I'm sure many of you are laughing inside, most of the comments I've gotten here are very positive and encouraging. Even the people who know I've done something "wrong" won't shove it down my throat, rather they choose to kindly help me realize what I could have done different or better. That's the kind of community I like being involved in. I especially like how nobody ever teases me about how my baja is "too nice to get dirty" :P

Thanks for the edit Big Dave, but some of us already got the Ray Stevens treatment. "Don't look now Ethel" but it was too late, we done got a free shot!

I like how everybody chips in around here, from the budget-minded to the full-out race minded. When somebody needs a tip or a little help, there's not a pack of angry Hyena's waiting to laugh.

A friend suggested that I check out this site, I've never regretted it! I lurk around on other websites, but I just feel comfortable here, I guess! I don't think that I know any of you personally, but I was given very helpful info when I asked a question and nobody laughed at my junk (easy Herbie, I was talking about my CAR)!
..And I like looking at everyone else's projects, it keeps giving me ideas for upgrades on my own!
Every day above ground is a good day!

It all started with a favorite oldest nephew and some free time on the internet while at work. He shares my love for the desert and off road racing, so it didn't take much to get me started. I found lots of interesting stories, humor, tons of information available and some awesome builds. I even got a free t shirt and plaque to hang in the barn. I looked, I joined , and I posted. Thanks Brian.

It's less like a faceless internet forum and like the bunch of blokes sitting around the campfire with a couple of beers

I'd like everyone to know how much I appreciate these comments. Hate to get soupy, but comments seem to indicate that just what I wanted to happen, has actually happened. The OR forum has really grown by leaps and bounds and many of the other forums have benefited from those who participate in the OR community. Members continue to send donations which makes the site self supporting. Donations and gifts by STFers to others have created and saved projects. The technical info is really about the best you can find. It's a good thing. I like it!! :D

Thanks to all. Without the members, there is no STF.

Happy Holidays,
