You'll need it on that route. Last time I drove to the Classic from Colorado... we hit temperatures as high as 112 in Nevada.

Jake, why did you choose a 1.7 case?Is there any advantage over the others?Or are they all the same just different bores?
Good luck on your trip it sounds like it´s going to be a blast! Maybe install a 5 speed porsche tranny before you go - that engine would be perfect for it!

Two reasons...

Thecase was very low mileage and I wanted to prove that the 1.7 is just as strong as any of the others.

What are the differences between the 1.7 case and the others besides the bore? It´s probably a retard question but the only case I´m familiar with is the 2L case.

No differences in the case at all from 1.7-2.0 measurement wise no real differences at all.

i would be up for the cruise if you came through salt lake city at all or i could join up with you somewhere south if needs be. i still have my 2.5L TIV in my notch and i should have new home built aluminum front end for it on by then. i had my head temps around 280 degrees whether in the city or cruising at 90mph on the freeway. i missed the classis this year because the notch hit some trouble and shattered the fiberglass front end i had on there. im excited even if its a ways off in the future. sounds like a plan.

Jake - Cleveland to Bentonville, AR is about 850 miles. I'm about 50-60 miles north of US40. Would be happy to put you up for the night and have reasonably complete shop facility to address minor repairs. Let me know if we can be of service. Plenty of room at the house.

That sounds like a good stop for the first day of driving...

Of course, we won't be needing to make any repairs, but somewhere to stop and check the valves would be cool.. This is a total product development venture since in 2250 miles most problems will show up, or atleast make themselves apparent.
