That sounds like the best so far. Include that with you're (Jakes) idea of pulling a trailer with some customers engines, and then also you can bring out the tranny that is in the plague now. Swap trannies when you get to BOR, run a low 12 sec pass, and maybe for a added touch, paint a slogan on the Plague, " Put Up or Shut Up" I think people will know who you're talking to.

Not so big on the trailer idea - it will skew the datalogger badly. True, it will add load, which will make the data very conservative, but possibly too conservative to be meaningfull.

Now, here's another idea - take the bug AND the bus. Put all of the bulky computer equipment in the bus, load it up with engines and tranny's, and some minimal data logging - that will be the "loaded" vehicle. In the bug, keep the RH seat for a co-driver, and link the datalogger wirelessly with the bus. Just find 2 more volunteers to drive the bus - shouldn't be hard, with the response you are getting.

One problem - the bus may not keep up during higher speed runs. Solution would be to put enough data storage in teh bug to act as a buffer so it coulkd absorb 1+ hour of data. Send the bug on the bonzai run across the flats in Kansas, stop for a break (hey, it's you and your new wife - you can figure out something to do), wait for the bus to catch up, dump the data, repeat.

Yep, the trailer would mess with the logger....

The Bus will have to stay at home... It needs a full suspension rebuild that I would not have time to do before the trip given my schedule. The bus has hauled so much stuff for so long that it finally worked on the undercarriage..

The engine still purrs like a Kitten though...

Not much weight with the logger.

Mounts under dash, stores data on compactflash at about 20 MB/hr. Built for Jake using SPA Designgauges and RaceTechnology logger. Logs CHTx4, EGTx4, O/T, O/P, AFR, RPM, 2D acceleration, 2D GPS and calculates whatever you want...

In car video is sync'd to data file off-line and can be played back on a PC with a live virtual dashboard, live data charts, and live track map (shown above w/out video).

Jake loves data -- think this is enough to keep him happy?

Bill did one hell of a job building the logger for me and getting it all synched up to the dyno to log Tq and HP there as well...

I still need to learn about a few aspects of the software, but I'll get that done over the next week or so..

Now you see why I need dstar to go along for tech support!

Anyone seen this installed? Have to say, I have a 914's instrument cluster waiting for me to figure out what I want to do with ... but that Spa dash system looked nice!

These instruments are incredible...

You can literally hold the thermocouples in your hand and measure body temperature! I put one in my moth and a regular thermometer at the same time and the readings were within tenths of each other!

Been eyeing these up for a while... Not cheap though... But it does include all sensors and a harness, when you add that up for other gauges its not a big leap to this

We are using a dakota digital cluster for Beth's vert.. They made it for us using the OEM speedo and all the other gauges (9 in all) are in the stock cluster and all are digital

Cost about a grand..

And Jake, do you have photos yet of what Beth's vert looks like put back together? Or waiting till you have the exhaust and whatever else you have left to finish 'er up?

Those gauges are pretty sweet, but they look too new for me.. I know of a gauge customization shop in Ca that I could get a new tach to have the look like a speedo. Like this..

Thats about as good as an Ms paint job will allow...
