The trans came from a guy in Olka that rebuilds them with the 082 gear from a bus 4th gear its called a freeway flyer trans Higher gears so you can drive faster then 55-60. Trans is out of a 68 VW bug.

There's the proof. The gearbox was rebuilt. At the time the .82 was installed, it was converted to swing axle.
The final two points are wrong. With stock gears, 70-75 is not a problem.
The trans is NOT from any 68 Beetle. It is from a 69-72 Beetle.

Thank you Bruce2, he sent me that after I posted the question. So if I ever need to replace the transaxle, what all cases will work with a type 1 torsion tube. I understand that any IRS will have to be converted to a swing axle.

Need to know more about a GA Gearbox , out of a 181 from 74.
Is it with LS Diff?

Wish to know what year this tranny is. Cast no. is 113-301-103. Ser. no. is 6724692, there are no letters and it is a swing axle. 6 volt starter bearing hole. No back up light switch. No input shaft sleave.

There are no letter codes because it was built at a time when there was only one configuration.

Fourth is overdrive (.89:1) as it is in all normal/stock Type I/II/III transmissions.

Except for the VW Hormiga.
It had a 1.04 top gear.

And don't forget .93 and .82 are just as normal if not more normal than Hormiga.

OK, that was a poor choice of wording, I meant that overdrive was universal, not the .89 ratio in particular.
.82 is found in most II transmissions.
.93 is found in most late I (such as the AT)
There's also a .88 found in the later AH transmissions and `Ghias.
I thought "normal/stock Type I/II/III" would've been construed to exclude the Hormiga and its cousins.

It allows you to input 2 tire/final drive/ratio combinations and compare them. Most of the other calculators I've seen only do one at a time.
