Been thinking about this... could be to do with the very cold weather you have... oil isnt flowing properly, cam picks up slightly before film strength reached??fastback wrote:Piledriver wrote:I have torn a few down, have yet too see any stock cams look remotely like that, might relate to what oil is used or perhaps even a particular run of cam blanks.fastback wrote:Here's a few pic's
A couple of lifters. (the one is badly worn , but the other is more normal on a normal milage engine)
So a flat lifter is teoreticaly worn , but in reallife these lifter still work fine for many miles still.

Pic's of WBc cams. they more or less look like this , so i aume there is an cam/lifter issue on the WBX
The cam/lifters out of my 88 MV looked reusable as-is, at >270K miles.
The cam had virtually NO wear, still had machining marks visible on lobes.
(Second owner, 1st owner always ran Mobil1, I ran Rotella-T syn)
Well this cam was of the worst.
But all i have torn down shows sign of pitting.
but i also suspect lack of oilchange/quality oil on these.
270K?? without wear? thats amazing!
Or do people run very thin oil in winter? if it was thrashed down a motorway.. that could also be the cause.. even in really cold weather the oil could get too thin on a run...
Dunno... what do you tthink?
