I like your thinking - I hope to re-do a lot of this to a much higher quality on a second model.
That sounds like a great way to create those holes.

If you want that to look authentic, you can probably buy the pre-punched metal from a prototyper - something like that will only take a few minutes on a turret press, and will give you perfect accuracy (plus or minus .005", anyway) for little money. If you average that cost against the hours of work you'll do to get the same thing, you're ahead, even if you're paying yourself wages that they'd sneer at in a third world nation. If I were still working for a prototyper, I'd make one for you, but that job is long gone.

P.S. And that's even cheaper! Good thinking, fusername.

Yeh, kinda lame. I really think it needs one of those Porsche engines from a Super Beetle in it.

mr. slug, here is a photo of a schwimmwagen and a kubel that i picked up years ago while traveling thru texas.... the previous owner of das boat was apparently very hard on the suspension and as a result it sits really low. so don't worry too much about the ride height of your project. the kubel on the other hand was apparently driven very little....

That's some pretty advanced panel beating Mr. Slug! There are a lot of professional metal workers who would be unable to handle that job. Very impressive. And an incredible amount of work for the project. Reading the start of the thread, I thought you were going to build something along the concept of the Schwimmwagen, not an actual replica! WOW! Time to create a new website and a new career in metal working! Not that you've done too poorly in masonry...
The father of a guy I work with in restoring vintage race cars drove a Seep (amphibious Jeep) like yours for an Admiral in the US Navy in the South Pacific during WW2.
