Just make a pattern of where you want to end up cut a couple of strips of 16 or 18 ga and tig weld the tube comes out strong and looks good.

seeing we are on the topic of exhaust and intake set up's here is mine

i went sidewinder style on my bus



i am going to see if i can have a local shop bend my pipe instead of my mess of adapters/bends

intake/t-body....i liked mild core's deal, but didn't want to rip off his design. my fist one was a blatent copy of his



feeling like a douche for ripping off his design, i did this



and i have almost 3/8's clearance at the firewall. due to the goofy angle, it looks close, but it's not

Swapped out my TB reverser for a square tube low profile unit now I can install the deck lid spring again. Worked like a charm. The top photo is the after shot look how much lower it sits. This is on my bug but it works great on the early bus and makes it much easier to route the air cleaner and MAF, no body mods required.

So what exactly is this piece from?

Id like to use that for my awic setup.

I don't reckon anyone will be worrying about copyright infringements,.
As they say imitation is the highest form of flattery, I know I get a kick when someone says I copied your XYZ on my conversion

THere is only so many ways to skin a cat, I built something identical to that as well when I first installed mine 5 years ago.
Didn;t twig at the time it was totally useless on a bug if I wanted to have a decklid spring

Sure, Just shipped one to Las Vegas last month.

I didn't want to have everything mounted so high up on the engine and wanted a more stock like configuration. If it was just a TB I probably would have just made a reverser, but having to mount the MAF inline and an air filter also seems to me to just look kinda cluttered and not very clean. I also didn't want to cut or modify all the wires ect and the throttle cable bracket alignment is important too so I decided to cut and angle the mounting flange on the intake manifold instead.
I may have screwed up the airflow inside the Intake plenum somewhat, but as it is just air not air/fuel I hope it won't be a problem.
The engine is an EJ22, mounted on a Subarugears mounting bracket, in a 56 Beetle. I am pretty pleased at the clearance I have currently. The flange is just tacked in place for now but look at the clearance I have with the stock 90 legacy donkey cok.

So it wasn't fair to everyone that I asked about a throttle body reverser and then never said how I solved it.



Rocky Mountain Westy. Aluminum TIG Welded and assembled in a jig. $150 USD. Fits like a dream, and they even include gaskets and hardware. RMW is my go-to source for most of my components including the adapter (rebranded Outfront Motorsports unit, which has some design improvements on the Kennedy unit) and an absolutely gem of an engine carrier that is bolt on for the original body bolt holes.



So I'm well on my way.

I made mine using 1/4 plate, a 2.5 exhaust donut, and some basic tools like a welder, grinder, and sabre saw I used a throttle body gasket as my template and an 2.5 hole0saw (meant for wood) for the main hole and an 11/32 drill bit for the bolt holes.



I cut it in half



at this point i welded up the inside of the donut half and filled it with water overnight to make sure there was no leak.



after that i tacked one of the flanges to the bend and bolted it up for the first time.



having now marked where and what angle i wanted the tb to be positioned at i used the sabre saw again and cut the excess off. after that it was just a simple welding job... i'll admit my welds don't look great. i'm just starting into metal fabrication but they don't leak and 99% of the time you'd never even see the welds on this. one thing i wish i'd done initially was to weld the flange to a bigger piece of metal so it wouldn't warp. i ended up doing tons of spot welds to keep the heat down to a level where warpage wouldn't occur

Was there any drawings ever posted for this TB elbow?

My application is in a Beetle and I note the comments about fouling the decklid spring and having to modify the elbow. It sounds like more than 180 degrees.
