Ozzie,

How's the fitment of the 2liter wheels? anything you needed to do to the body? I know I asked you this before.

Actually, the 2.0L Fuchs are so offset to the inside, the problem becomes rubbing on the front trailing arms (right at the beam). I adjusted the steering stops and solved the rub prob but I now have a larger turning radius. The steering radius increase has not been a problem. I am running BFG G-Force Sports 195-55-15. I can barely get a finger between the tire & the rear fender lip, but a miss is as good as a mile, right?

True indeed. I wonder if using dropped spindles that increase your offset will help in the front.

Ghia looks great man.

I stayed away from the dropped spindles because I was afraid of rubbing the front fender lips. I am using an Avis beam and I'm as low as I want to be. The tires don't rub the fenders, I can't say if they would or wouldn't with another 1/2" outboard.

E,

Did you ever fix the oil leak? I plan to run the car hard on corners, so I need to work out an oiling solution too.

Yeah. That has been resolved. I did that before I pulled the motor. No issues there.

No sweat David. That is why I wanted to make sure you checked the torque of the bottom plate and not overtighten it.
What ype of heads did your 1911 have?

E,

The engine number is EA035371. The other numbers I have our 1972 80hp, M127 and M553. Rods, crank were sonoflux, no cracks. Rods were sized, crank polished, everything balanced. I have the reciept from 1981, including the rod and piston weights.

But you asked about the heads, the one reciept I can't place yet. They were the small valve heads, (33/39?) that would have come on a 1972 411 wagon with an automatic.

I'll know more when I get it out this weekend.
