My dynoresults

With Turbo and Super charging you can create massive horsepower with vw motors.

Now those graphs are what it looks like when you shift during a dyno run and the X axis is RPM....!!

My guess is that the chart started already at 1'st or 2'nd, sneeking up on 3'rd and booting it when going in to 4'th.
that`s right

throttle response is very good, boost coming fast.

Kalle,

First of all, nice link and nice engines with good explanations and dyno charts showing what they can do!
The chart shows exactly the coasting and transmission losses that I was reffering to earlier.
So for anyone that does not know how to interpret these charts, this is rearwheel horsepower. Some impressive engines on the streets of Norway too.

Marko asked me to add some information.
I quote him with my free interpretation and translation
"when we ran it on the dyon we had continous trouble to control boost and wheelspin. So we had the boost jump to 2,1 (31 psi) and this was not our intention. We are currently modifying and hope to redo the runs this spring with a controlled boost of 1,5-1,6 bars (20-23psi) We will also have some better tires"

Oh yeah, thats a problem  I just happen to know the cure for it, drop the turbo, put in some nice IDA`s and you will have no problemos :D

OOOPsss, I missed that the page was from Denmark.
Thanks for highlighting.
It was a silly stament as there is probably NO place in the world without some quite heavy stuff VW.
I know of HOT VW's around the globe and we are all in the same "club".
Sharing it, is just adding extra fun.

so how does it keep from overheating since it is a street car? i would love to eliminate the type 1 fan shroud, but what other way is there is keep the aircooled engine cool? I thought about electric fans, one pulling from underneath, and one pushing from above, but i dont want to take the risk.

I think the watercooled heads probably help a LOT...

... and I suppose it's possible an electric setup might be sufficient for keeping the jugs sufficiently cool.

(The heads dissapate most of the heat)
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

I wonder if Jake Raby has done anything like that? he has done some impressive tests on cooling. i just want to do away with the height that is taken away from the engine compartment by the shroud so i can put a turbo intercooler somewhere there

I would think if you put some drag slicks on and take off the dirt track tires you should get a lot better traction.
