If you want a system that works and offers great clearance with a good sound the Tangerine Super Header is the answer. www.tangerineracing.com

Chris will build the system as you like.

A complete tangerine system is $1725 + $200 for coating are they twice as good as the sidewinder?I want a good system but i do not have a endless supply of money!

The Tangerine is a hand made unit. It is not a production model and Chris Foley builds them himself.

The Tangerine is a total work of art. It does not make the peak HP numbers that the A-1 does, but it does provide a better torque curve for a daily driver.

Let this information from my R&D archive answer your question a bit more technically.

http://www.aircooledtechnology.com/r_d_exhaust.htm

Currently the A-1 (non sidewinder) and the Tangerine units are the only effective exhaust options for the TIV of today. Anything else is just guesswork and that might cost you an entire engine to learn.

Exhaust systems are EVERYTHING to an engine, spending thousands of dollars on engine internals to be wasted because the exhaust system is ineffective.

everything we have developed has the capability of being ruined with an inadequate exhaust system choice. Exhaust can bolt on a 20HP gain or reduction in overall power, some instances are more than this.

Nice pictures Jake!
The plaque actually looks better than I would have guessed, despite your comments about its looks
Nice to see Bill again. Boy, does he get around

I try and make the best out of my work travel... This time I had great timing with a trade show in Atlanta the same weekend as Dyno Days. :D It was a blast meeting many of the SE guy's, seeing their work, and watching them go full throttle. The look on the dyno operators face when Jake was waving him up to 7500 rpm was priceless -- he thought Jake was nuts and seemed to think it was going to blow. It sounded great and kept it's kuhl.

Full throttle,
Bill

I would be a good person to speak for the A-1 sidewinder if it wasn't the only header I have ever known. When Jake dynoed my engine he had to work at getting a good curve. Since that time I have increased the size of my main vents and have been able to re jet to come up with good power. All in all I am happy with the sidewinder, but if I had 20 more horses and then lost them with the sidewinder I would probably think differently. I would think some combos would do better than others. If Jake isn't too busy at BOA I would be honored to have him abuse my car to see what he thinks. :)

I would be very interested in the results of that please keep me informed!
How much power and torque did your 2270 make?
Thanks

Based upon some testing done with the Sidewinder muffler on a standard A-1 header, I'd say the entire issue is the muffler it's self.
It certainly does not perform like a Magna flow typically does!

So you think the sidewinder header might be ok with a standard straight through magna muffler instead of the one that doubles back internally?

If that would be a possibility I would be interested. The standard Magnaflow for the rear exiting header would not fit with the sidewinder. However if the sidewinder muffler would be made to exit under the car toward the rear of the engine....might be a solution.

Huw, my 2270 made 162 Torque and 153 HP. If feels like the power increased up top after it broke in more. Without any changes the MPG improved greatly. It made 117 ftb at 1500 rpm. I bet it would be a blast in a light weight speedster.

I called Tiger today.. He had someone order a few of the sidewinder arrangements and I conveinced him to make me one of them and send me various flanges, cones and collectors as well as different diameter tubing for the muffler.

So.. in about 5 weeks I'll have the test system that I can test, cut, weld, test, cut, change, test, cut and weld some more to get a 100% proven sidewinder.

This one will be ONLY available through my store since I'm putting the time into it 100%. Test engine will be a 2270. Expect it to take 4 months to get developed and jigged up for mass production-

JAke
I would be intrested in the sidewinder system for a Dune Buggy application. Is there anything you would need to help in this development? Photo's measurments test fitting ect

Just let me know.

we have to take it one step at a time and getting the Sedan set up to function correctly will be a big enough challenge in it's self.

with the low volumes of Off-road/buggy engines and parts we sell I doubt seriously that withiout a customer assisting with the costs incurred to design the system it won't be developed.
