Not everyone's as skilled as you....Marty wrote:You need to fabricate your own.
Did you shift in the water?
What clutch are you using?
No I didn't shift in the box.....I spun 'em in first to wet 'em all the way around....Then I just roll up & little, stop & put it in what I thought was second & blew reverse up. Also I think the input shaft coupler snapped in two from what came out of the drain plug.
The thing about the shifter is, I check & checked & test drove it several times before ever trying to race it.
The JAMAR shifter feels like it has a worn spot in the "H" pattern kinda like when a stock reverse lock-out plate gets old & worn......
As far as the clutch I running a copper 4 puck w/ a 1700 lbs KEP, my car w/ me in it doesn't weigh alot so I don't think I need a ton of clutch?
Thanx 4 any help Marty
(My car is starting to look like some fun target practice for my shotgun

One thing I do to make sure I don't try and burn out and or launch in reverse, when I aproach the waterbox I go forward in first gear shift to second when I am rolling, I look at my spotter and nail it as soon as I leave the box. then when I stop and have to back up I go back far enough to let me "dry hop" it, that is a little small clutch dump to make sure I am in first. then I creep forward into the first light and use my staging break to pump into the second light. I slip the clutch so all slack is out of the trans and it is fully preloaded then 3rd amber away I go.
Hope that helps it works great for me.

i drove a car last year with one of these. http://www.ajspeedshift.com/SANDDUDE wrote:I still have NO time slips......my tranny EXPLODED in the wet box![]()
Does anyone know of a better mid engine shifting system other than this old worn out JAMAR stuff I'm currently using?
......This dragster is slowing wearing me down
TWO THUMBS UP!!
I was pleasantly suprised how good it worked.
Although it took a bit to get use to since its no longer an h pattern. its push/pull ratchet. pull for going up in gear, push to go back down. keep pushing for neutral and reverse.

Looks to be a great set-up except for the price $1500
I having a baby boy, so I'm not sure when I'm gonna have the money to buy it?
Once I buy it I'll pull it apart & fix my transaxle...........
