I thought about it, but without knowing the science behind the design, it would be challenging to do anything but copy what i currently have. Not sure I'd get great results that way. Everybody else in the world does just fine with a flat top, i figure it's worth a shot.

Are you planning to run a high compression?

This is looking really promising. The only thing I would skip is the water/meth injection because I really do not think there is a need for it. I tried adding a extra 10 micron E85 compatible fuel filter on my 1641ccm engine and started to notice that the engine was slowly leaning out. I compensated with adding more fuel in the map but the situation got worse and in the end I was at 36 psi and 13.5-14.2:1 AFR. Needless to say but the car was wilder than ever before loosing grip in 3rd but the engine survived and with no sign of detonation. I later removed the filter and the engine ran pig fat afterwards and of course lost power at the same boost. That is how "fail safe" E85 is - I consider it a true gift for our engines!

Important: My compression was only 7.5:1 - quite a big difference from your engine.

Thats great info! I've seen similar with my 2276, it went quite lean when I very first put it on the track, only 18psi, but over 14:1 with injectors at 100%DC. My tank wasn't vented, and my pump wasn't great, so my 1000cc injectors were maxed out just trying to keep up, though obviously they couldn't. Vented the tank and switched to a bigger pump, and found that my fuel issues went away. No damage to the engine from going lean, I'm confident that e85 was a huge help. It wasn't until I switched to gasoline that it started to split cylinders.

I live at 4500ft, and with the duration of the cam, and the fact that it will be exclusively an e85 engine, I figured 9:1 won't be the worst thing in the world for around town drivability. Why did you choose so low?

I wish I could say that i was really this far along, but alas, its all for looks. Deck height measured out beautifully. No shims anywhere, .041 is where it came out to. Thats one of the beautiful things about using the custom piston. Long rods but still maintaining perfect stock width.
I need to tear it down again, drop my lifters in under the cam and start measuring for pushrod length. Getting closer to being able to seal this sucker up for good though. Moving along!

Probably should. Never done it before, but this one might appreciate it more than my big one. Maybe I'll stop by a local machine shop tomorrow and get an idea of time constraints and such. I am on a bit of a deadline at this point. I'm hoping to be flinging it down the racetrack in a month.

Now that’s a sweet, little mouse! And of course you should balance everything. I have never once received a balanced, new product that actually was balanced even measured with the lowest standards possible.
