Re: New guy, new build
ouch.
At least it sounds like the old girl protected you well, and the new ride looks great!
People buying new cars forget (way too common) multiple rollovers in pickups or SUVs seldom end well.
Back in the day Bugs were exempt from having a roll cage at drag strip times that required full cages from a Chevy...

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

And I only had lap belts! It definitely helped that I didn’t hit anything just that dirt bank which kicked off the rollPiledriver wrote: ↑Sun Jul 24, 2022 4:22 pm ouch.

Glad to hear the new project is coming along nicely. I'm a fan of the snowflake era cars. Keep up the good work!

That extra door on top looks like a good idea.

Body work is pretty much done on my 59 and my paint and body guy got it epoxy primed last friday and Saturday he unfortunately had a heart attack and passed away. If anyone knows a San Diego based paint shop that does decent work let me know!
I’m running a removable rear apron that I’m really excited about! It’ll make taking the motor in and out a bit easier

Finally getting some painted parts back. It got my excitement level up again. I can’t wait to build this car.

Back working on the bug full force. Hoping to be driving by June. I Ned to relearn all my megasquirt EFI knowledge since I basically forgotten it all
. I’ll be starting the wiring for all the solenoids and auxiliary power this weekend

As I get closer to putting in the motor I’m starting to think about stuff I’d love to do that I never had a chance to try with it before. Are there any good write ups on people using the flex fuel sensor with the megasquirt ecu in a VW application.
I assume I’d just need the sensor, get ethenol rated fuel line and some bigger injectors.
