well it was cold out, and the exhaust from that grinder is damn cold! the spatter on the other hand, warms ya right up!

Updates this weekend maybe? Will get to work a little on Saturday, might just be putting in the driver's seat and fixing the passenger vent wing, but at least it's something!

Working on saving up for cylinder heads (and paying fusername for the labor). At about $240 right now =/ I'd go for any working condition, really, and that's probably what I'm getting. Talk to him if you're interested in donating

Feeling really positive about life in general at the moment, so I have hope that this baby can get running by maybe even May! Wish us luck.

Drivers seat (it adjusts...with violent rocking) and back seat back in, not major, but exciting anyway. About time for adventures in fiberglassing, home from school for the month of May next weekend. Fusername got some good work done on the engine, he can update on that if he likes. Front lights all work, got a new emergency flasher relay to replace my wonky one. Trailer kit adapter thing I bought was a bust, fusername couldn't get it to work, so poo to that, need to buy another set of lights. My dad found his old Guide for the Compleat Idiot as an Easter present for me, will enjoy perusing that (my family is Orthodox Christian, btw, thus Easter was this weekend).

Income for the month of May: selling two off-road lights that I'm told are worth over $100 (each)

Thanks to repliers on fusername's stripped frame horn thread, that's about poor ol' Franzy.

After he's running, I'll get to decide if I'm going to ever go off roading in him...cause my dad bought me a brand new headliner a while back, but it can't go in if I'm going to put in a rollcage someday.

Goal for running (and maybe insured/registered): end of May. Having transportation once I'm living in an apartment an hour away from our garage woudl be nice (move back there June 1st). Wish us luck.

I am glad to see some progress on this, violent rocking you say,hmm. Why is that? when you are ready snap some pics of those lights and put them in the ORF for sale thread. Keep it up and oh yea, Good Luck!

i don't know why, its just incredibly difficult to move the seat! pulling the tab (whatever you want to call it) is difficult too, but everything is covered in grease, and there are plastic pieces on the feet of the chair, which should help it move in the rail. the rails were cleaned a lot before hand, also. maybe they're just too worn out or something. pictures eventually

the rear slider tracks are getting kinda saggy, the channel has opend up a bit. I don't know if hitting it w/ a small sledge would help or hurt

Engine has oil pump on/in. Woohoo! I took apart, cleaned, and reassembled some rocker arm assemblies at work with Fusername yesterday. Um...I don't remember what else we did.

Radio question: are stock radios interchangeable between air-cooled VWs? Fusername gave me his AM radio after upgrading to an 8 track/AM radio. It was out of his 77' Westy, original radio as far as we know. With some effort (the clips are really sturdy), we can get the radio in place in my car, I need to find where to plug everything in, but I couldn't find anything about "radio" on my wiring diagram. Tried searching here (and Googling), but everything said something about 5 wires, and I think I have 3.

Also where the heck could I find the double nuts needed for under the knobs on the radio? Fusername took a set for his new radio, as it was lacking them, and now I need some! I guess one keeps the knob on, and one allows for adjustment. I'll hunt down a part number on my radio, that might help for some of these questions...

Time to think about paint colors and whether I'm putting in the headliner (I'm leaning towards this) or a rollcage.
