Things not firing. no spark
we hooked the wire off the dizzy to the postive(15) terminal.
and the rest of the wires to the neg.(1) terminal.

my dad took the spark plug wire, and held it to metal while i turned the car over.
shoulda shot a perty good size spark right?
no spark.

switched to a different coil.
same thing.

My dad thinks its the coil, i think its the cheapo plug wires from JCwht.

the wires are stiff as boards right now, the always fall out of the coil, and they just suck period.

What could it be??

any pictures of running motors, and the way your setup, with the wiring, could be helpful.

The points and condenser trigger the coil as the dist rotates so if you hook a test light between 1 and 15 and if the trigger is working the test light will blink when you turn it over.
Hot, humid air is less dense than cooler, drier air. This can allow a golf ball to fly through the air with greater ease, as there won't be as much resistance on the ball.

alright, i need help.

I got this thing timed out, perfect(at least i think so)

And we go to turn it over tonight(with high hopes) and nothing.

So my dad took the coil ign. wire out of the dizzy, and put it to grounded metal, while i turned it over. NO SPARK. :x so we have it narrowed down a bit.,,,
My guess is its the cheap JCwhiney spark plug wire, thats cracked already from cold weather.
because thats the only thing we changed from when it fired up about 1 year ago.

All of our coils are tested, and are good.

Could this be it?

Help :!: :? :?

Jox, put a test light at the coil do you have power?

Put the test light on the points, turn it over, do you have power?

Ya have to do better then putting a wire to metal to get a spark, Let us know what ya found.

Yes, the points are in the distributer (dizzy). Do you have power at #15 and #1 power in at 15 and out to points/condensor at 1

yes, we do have power to the 1 and 15 terminal, just theres no spark coming out of the middle ign. wire from the coil, therefor we are not getting any spark to the dizz, and thats the reason its not firing.

correct?

if correct, what could be causing that?

Jox with dizzy cap removed and key on you should get a spark at the points when you turn the engine over.

IF you have juice at #1 on coil but nothing at points replace the condenser and check again. Or use a test probe and see where the power stops at in the line leading from the coil.
