Re: Does anyone else out there have a Fierro 600?
Those are the best we've found so far, they match the vintage look of the car. Any idea of the diameter?
I haven't been able to find the lights from my previous pic either. The weather sucks right now so I'm probably not gonna cut my rear open till spring which gives me time.
What's the progress on your car anyway?

good looking lights, can you order them from passion-motors?
I think I found a good way to make headlight covers for us by the way. I'm gonna give it a shot and let you know soon.

yeah you can order the lights from the website. or call them up.
i wonder how hard it'll be cutting our bumper off to make it more 60s racing and less blocky 80s car.
how are you making the headlight covers?

Well I started by buying floral foam to create a block I can carve out to the right shape. You can get big blocks online, I just went to an arts and crafts store and bought 6 smaller ones and glued them together.
Here's a pick of what it looks like before shaping.
I'm nearly finished with the shape; I stuck the block in front of the headlight and started cutting. I'll have a picture of a finished one soon. The plan is to mold the floral foam to the right shape, spray it in epoxy to harden the top, lay some fiberglass on it, and then heat mold lexan or polycarbonate sheets.

dude that's awesome!
when you perfect it you'll have to make me some and i'll buy them from you!
you should make a mold fro the back end of your car and of course i'll buy that from you as well. lol
keep the pictures posted!

Ok so i got great news.
when it comes to the tail light section i have found an incredibly easy way to do this!
check out this website:
http://www.zforceproductions.com/index. ... &Itemid=84
This panel could be used as a whole or cut down to size.
either way it makes the process incredibly easy. to me i imagine it's like
if you punch a hole into dry wall, you cut out a big square where the punched hole is, replace with a fitting square of dry wall and seal the edges- repaint....
that's how it would work.... isn't it? lol
the rear lights after the work would look like this:

I am also curious. my wheels are 15 inches. i'm ok with that but i wanna know where i can get Huge thick tires like the ones in the picture above? is that a certain type of tire? or what size do you think that looks like?
i thought of doing this to my car too.

(click this link to find the purchase page: http://www.zforceproductions.com/index. ... &Itemid=56 )
If we did this our cars would look like this to a degree:

Maybe its just me but i though it would give our cars much more... body.
thought we would have to use some kinda filler so it doesn't look like an attachment.
I feel like our cars are great, but also these base models for incredible things to be done to them!
Now as far as cutting off the rear bumper.... have you found any ideas as to how and what style? someone showed me a modern fiberglass ferrari bumper but... i dont think it'll look right

Re: Does anyone else out there have a Fierro 600?
That fiberglass rear end is pretty damn clever. I'm definitely going that route in the summer. I've been thinking of ways to create a hot swappable mold in the shape of the existing light assembly that mounts round lights. This panel means I just have to cut out the right shape, drop it in, and paint
I wouldn't widen your fenders since you can fit the biggest wheels and tires on the market. My tires are a little more than 14inches wide; I used 345 35s. Just the wheels are 10 inches wide in front and 12 wide in the rear. I don't think you can buy wider wheels and tires without driving on slicks and assembling your own three piece wheels. Even the regular 345s are $560 a piece and nice 3-piece wheels are about $1k a piece.
That being said, if you're keeping your wheels and just want those fat tires, 275 50 15 or 275 60 15 are what I'd look at first (probably the 50's, especially since you can get Hoosiers in that size)

Re: Does anyone else out there have a Fierro 600?
mmmk. i wanted the wider flares cause it gives it more of a appropriate 60s racing look like i want.
65 shelby daytona- my fav car.

i don't really care to have super wide wheels really.
this guy made his own datsun 240z flares i think would suit our cars:

you see how his tires don't seem much wider than my own,

notice how my tires are(without the flares) underneath my car. lol
the tires on his car (datsun 240z) should be underneath his car too, but they are out further... how?
Anyways how is it coming along on your headlight covers?
i'm anxious to see how its turning out!
by the way are you a facbook user? im facebook.com/dazcastone

About widening your rear wheelbase. If you lift the back of your car up and look under it you should see axles and trailing arms more or less linking up to your spindle and rotors and assembly. You would probably need longer axles and trailing arms to match. I would bet it's a ton of work if you can find the parts. Things are lookin good for those headlight covers, I'll keep you posted.

Re: Does anyone else out there have a Fierro 600?
hello to everybody, i have just joined your forum and hopefully be of help or be helped. i also own a fierro 600 of wich is to be believed the second one built, first out of the mold that was built from the hand built original that joseph fierro made for himself. i have some documentation on the car including a picture in one of the kit car mags(nov.'83) showing an uncompleted rolling chassis that was being built for his friend(and first customer?). the car still has the same wheels on it as pictured. i am presently driving the car as regular means of transportation. i live in missouri and of course was not advisable during the snow as i have lowered the car some since i've owned it. as soon as i get the hang of this computer, i'll download some pics of my car, i am the third owner(lucky 3?). you guys out there that own these cars have got some really nice ones and actually own a piece of rare history. you also have some really good ideas. i have seen some debate as to the production count on these cars and by the book i have, there were only 13 made unless their not counting the one hand built by joseph fierro. the car i have has a vw 2110 stroker and was platformed on a vw backbone, not floorpan and was a complete turnkey car with a full interior. i will try and go through all your threads posted and answer anything left unanswered. these cars handle unbelievably well as i have already out run a few motorcycles in multiple hairpin curves in arkansas and are very stable at 120, they do have room for improvement, like the drum brake department, and oh yea, heat, since i no longer have stock exhaust. i'll be back with more, till then, keep wrenchin'.

Oh nice man! welcome to the club. lol
as far as i know its:
1- yourself in MO,
2- myself here in PA,
3- Stephen from OR, a.k.a. forum member: dfhtrhjn.
4- a guy from CA named bob kaiser.
5- the silver fierro 600 from somewhere in NV (bob K. knows who that owner is)
6- i also hear there's a guy in TX with one.
7- i've also seen Joe Fierro's son with the original.
i know bob kaiser now has the original molds for the car he got from JF's son.
and has plans to put the fierro 600 back in reproduction someday... maybe?
that documentation you have, i have it too. a lot of blueprints and the magazine and tons of other stuff.
I've modeled my car after the Ferrari Dino just a little bit since it's obvious that's where Joseph's general inspiration came from.
i am also owner #3 for my car. its cool to see another owner show up!
definitely show us some pictures when you're able to!
i know im going to make a video, a complete walk-through video of my car, and its current state and everything it needs and etc.. and i'll upload it here later on.

Re: Does anyone else out there have a Fierro 600?
Welcome! I'm glad there's another owner out there, this is great news. If you read over the pages we've got a lot of stuff in the works for the cars. The newest two projects for us are converting our taillights to round corvette taillights, and getting headlight covers made. Both Darryl and I are doing restorations right now. Most of these require better weather so its been a little slow this winter. I've also got a video cam mount for my passenger side to record some hill climbs when it gets warmer.

Re: Does anyone else out there have a Fierro 600?
hello again, i've gone over some more of the threads and have some more info, not exactly in order. i'm presently running cooper cobra tires, 235/60/15 front, 295/50/15 rear with "no" problems what so ever. i recently bought some scrap lexan for making headlight covers myself and talked with the plastics co. where purchased and was told it had to be heated to 300-350 degree's before it would form and was done usually in a vacuum mold. that put me back to the drawing board. i was going to make a rigid mold of metal or wood that could withstand heat long enough to form the plastic but realized it would probably "brand" the masterpiece. the foam, resin, fiberglass form sounds like a great idea and i too am interested and hopeful that it works. i believe if you have a way of heating the lexan itself and then applying it to your mold it would work, not to mention since the mold itself would'nt be subjected to the prolonged heat. great minds think alike.... i too have looked at the tail light area and also have swayed in the round double light but also like the ford gt look. robbing an idea from ferrari and probably a few other rear or mid engined cars, i looked at using a mesh or grille for the rear fascia and mounting the lights on it, it would help heat dissipation. and now making this an even more heated topic, i sure could've used that heater in my car this winter. i sure looked cool this winter driving around with an icicle hanging off the end of my nose.lol will try to get some pics of my car down loaded today, don't expect anything fancy here guys as the car is still pretty much original cond. except for the gun metal paint i applied over the well aged wheels and a new steering box that was badly needed, i also had a new forged crank and i-beam rods installed(bought it with a broken rod), the recarro's are also in their original linen and the carpet lacks a little to be desired. the car also needs new paint, body is sound with no rattles or squeaks and since these cars were considered to be the best built by industry standards, that doesn't surprise me. can't wait to see some footage when your cams are up and running, and am honored to be a part of this select group, i have alot of ideas l'll be sending as i've always driven or rode something out of the norm. was into triumph tr-3, tr-4(which i installed a 289), tr-250, and three trident motorcycles(still have "ONE") and a '63 falcon hardtop am trying to fix for my daughter who very much deserves it. will be back hopefully with some pictures.
