kill the EGR. Also I ahve a 3 gas analyzer. Was a little tricky to use on AJs car cause he has a cat and it was my first time playing with it, but since the factory manual lists a CO spec for a in tune engine, we can dial it in like that. Clearly all signs point to you needing to takea trip south, come meet my new toy. It needs a name.
give a man a watch and he'll allways know what time it is. give him two and he can never be sure again.

Things are rarely just crazy enough to work, but they're frequently just crazy enough to fail hilariously.

also the trick to the conflicting AFM info, is don't rush, and make sure you can undo everything you do do. hehe, do do

So block it off and remove the actual valve?
I might just live with the idle issue until I get it otherwise roadworthy and then just do that. I'm going to do a cruising speed plug test and see what the results are. If rich, then I'll just wait to use your toy to tune the other stuff. No cat so that is good. I still have a small exhaust leak to weld up:(. I am going to check the TS as well make sure I don't have any return line issues. It idled fine until that hose let go. I find it curious the injector crapped at the exact same time and it was the last injector in line before heading back to the tank. I'm wondering if I have some blockage or something. Maybe I'm chasing down the wrong thing.

We are talking about maybe making the trip down in the Jeep for the bumper this weekend, I'll let you know.

EGR, if you have a fuel pump blockoff plate the bolt pattern just happens to be identical. no i lie, a spare CSV will fit to block that off. IMO it is just another place for a vacuum leak, and its an emmissions only doohicky, why fight to make it work?

Weather too iffy today for paint so instead, today I worked on the interior after going to pick up paint and supplies.. Cleaned it good, cut and laid the carpet in the cargo area and made a mat for the front. Put the kickpanels in, carpeted them. Bedlinered the floor and cleaned up the OG center rubber mat. Hooked up the tunes (vintage 1979 Audiovox tape deck) and called it a day. If the weather holds tomorrow, I'll paint it.

It's going to be a daily driver and then passed on to my teenage daughter so I wasn't too anal on the bodywork, just get the rust handled. Definitely not going to appear at Pebble Beach any time soon but that's not my thing anyway:)

Looks much better with the little bits back on it:). Just need to repaint the bumper.

BTW, did it with implement paint from Tractor Supply (New Holland yellow). I like it better than the RustStop from Ace or Rustoleum. Goes on very nicely with either a HVLP or a old gravity feed. They sell a hardener to use with it as well. Total for a gallon plus a pint of reducer and 1/2 pint of hardener was $55. the colors are limited but they cover the basic range of them. You can see my little pancake compressor in the background of the first pic.

Very impressed with the gloss of it...not so much with my bodywork but it's a daily driver for a 19 year old so I'm sure it will see more dents and dings before she's ready to a better looking job. Disregard the masking job, I'm replacing all the bulbs so I didn't worry about masking them.

Took 1/2 gallon to do three coats.

Driver's outer CV boot replaced and CVs packed. YECH! They weren't kidding about having a bonfire for your clothes afterwards!
The ghetto neon blue lights finally removed. Traced the wire leading to them back to....

.... the radio power lead?? WTF?

Painted the exhaust. Put the accordion tubes in for the heat (or sorta heat, it is a VW...)
Feeling pretty good, walked around it and then looked under it. Hmm. What's dripping?
Fuel.
Crap.
Leaking around the return line. Tightened the clamp, no luck. Put a pan under it catch the gas and will check it out once it empties. Grrr.

Fuel leak fixed. All lighting issues resolved. Front bumper painted. Another tire mounted (two to go). While testing the brake lights, popped a front line so replaced both (not even seized!). Luck it happened in the driveway and not trying to stop for an old lady in the crosswalk. All that's left is the horn, rear bumper (fuser, you around Sunday?) and the last two tires...

also turns out I am gonna have to cut the roo bar off my bus, but I'm gonna see if I can't sell it at a discount, but we will see. gotta be up at 8am for this. ugh. I don't do pre-930 these days.

I'm passing on Tfest this year. Decided if I can't take this bus to it, I'm not going. Since it isn't quite finished, I'm going to spend the day finishing this thing up.

Got the other two tires mounted. Going to do the horn in the morning as well as do something about the routing of the feed line to the fuel filter. Looked at it this morning and realized the way it goes now it's kinked.

watch the power lines on the heater boxes. I lost pressure once upon a time, the flapper box had ben just barely rubbing up against the wires from time to time, and cut em.

And she's DONE!! Gonna wash the windows and armor all the interior in the next few days but once I get plates on Tuesday...TIME TO ROLL!

Did the horns today. Damn, those things are loud. I have the same ones on my truck but they are under the hood, what a difference with them under the front bumper!
