Also… checked the Bowden conduit & it does fit inside the original throttle cable conduit between the pan exit & the tin. It is a very neat fit, so much so that a piece of masking tape covering the open end stopped it fitting. The Bowden outer will also pass through the stock fan shroud tube. I was originally going to leave those stock parts out but they are needed to support the Bowden outer which is too flexible in free air above the gearbox.

Got the right driveshaft fitted & another pair of CV joints have arrived so the left will go in soon.
Had a chance to spend most of today in the garage so was able to get the engine stripped of intake parts, then fitted.

Doing it single handed without a lift so slide it under on the jack (just enough clearance). Lift it up and use a pair of old IKEA kids chairs to take the load so I can add an extra lift block between the jack & engine.

First problem. The fuel rail connector hits the shell.

I did look for an elbow version but then I realised I could switch the fuel rails from side to side & put the connector at the bellhousing side.

Test fit is going okay so far. Will no doubt be on/off a number of times before it’s ready to start.

Had a day doing bits & pieces. Sorted some wiring at the front end. Tank is back in, with new filler neck hose & filler breather hose (to replace the new stuff that rotted without petrol in the tank). Pump is plumbed in but I’m not happy so will redo it.
Next job will be the power wiring for the pump & ECU. Will use the 3 relays from the motorbike harness. 1 for the pump, 1 for ECU / coil / injectors & one for the starter motor.
Have mocked up the air filter solution. I wanted to create a combined central air filter box & run duct hose to the throttle bodies each side but that would take a while to figure out. So to keep it simple I’ve ordered a pair of carb style filters & will mount them on a printed section which extends the port length & forms a trumpet profile.

More tidy up of the wiring, such as fresh terminals on the alternator wires (some evidence of corrosion & heat damage on the thick wire).
Also printed the first filter intake / stand.

I had planned to bond the filter base plate to the stand piece but there isn’t enough access to the screws so it will need to be removable.

Not too much to add. Intake trumpet/ filter mount got a small update to add M4 threads to the top, so the filter base plate can be held with hardware and be removable.
Fuel pump is all plumbed in at the front with the breather & large bore tank fitting. Pump power wire runs to the rear seat area where there are 3 relays. Two are wired in and are the main ECU power plus a second relay for the pump / coil.
Next job will be wiring in the ECU at the rear firewall, which hopefully will be done tomorrow.
Have also modified the speeduino firmware, so I can run sequential injection by reusing the outputs for single-wire idle & the VVT, for the injectors. So I have 4 channels for injectors and two channels for ignition, using the NO2C pcb.

Good bit of progress on the wiring todays. So far I’ve been happy with my choice of a NO2C speeduino but the micro molex connector has tiny terminals & is very tricky to crimp. In hindsight I would suggest skipping the pcb connector & run fly leads to a automotive connector. If I have any connection problems my first check will be that tiny connector.

I like the ram pipes I have a very similar design for a 911 intake but they are too expensive to make out of aluminium

I just read an article on an Open source design out there for a high temperature 3d printer... can even do PEEK and relatives, supposedly the parts come to around $1K US, possibly less if you already have a 3D printer and/or CNC capability for making the aluminum bits. (All the designs are there)
The whole thing ends up as an oven as the whole shebang needs heated while printing, but the electronics/belts and stepper motors live outside the oven.

Nylon/glass or Nylon/CF should not be an issue for it, and the pellet feed might make more designs practical.

Filter stand updated as above.
I was surprised when i tested out of curiosity by sucking at each end and even with a human’s tiny peak flow I could perceive a difference to the smoothness of flow.
Wiring is down to two wires to terminate. Then it’s on with testing.
One of my better decisions was to buy the Honda wiring harness from EBay. I already had the injection loom which I extended but the harness gave me relays, connectors (idle & tps) plus a load of wire in lots of colours. I’ve reused quite a bit of the wire & having colour coding is very helpful.
