Both if possible, thanks.

I'll try. It's at 034 Motorsport for the week for dyno tuning, so I'm not sure when I'll get it back. I'll try to get it done this week, otherwise it'll be next weekend before I can get to it.

Ended up with 190 at the wheels. It runs great once it warmed up a minute, but if it's cold it doesn't run well except an idle. I'm probably going to upgrade the turbo to a GT28RS, but I need to get the chassis and suspension squared away before I add that much power. Just got a ticket today for 86, so I REALLY don't need any more power at the moment...

Hit a dead possum and cracked the radiator, but amazingly it's resealed itself so I'll keep my fingers crossed till I get a new one built.

Was having issued with the rad fans running too much, turns out I just wasn't bleeding the air correctly. I had been trying to bleed it with the water hot and engine running, but it's done best with the engine sitting. Doesn't even get hot enough to turn the fans on now!!!

Had her dyno tuned again, she runs much better now. Still working on cold starts, but I have serious torque down low and the power keeps building up top. Still just have the KO3 Sport turbo on there, working on integrating a larger intercooler before I go for a bigger turbo.

I'm looking at this one:

http://www.034motorsport.com/product_in ... cts_id=594

Fitted a new radiator that sits higher to make sure no damage occurs, but it resides out of the airflow too much currently, so if I keep an average speed of 80mph I'm OK, but if I go faster the rad fans will kick in. I'm building a lower lip using an E36 M3 front lip edge that will duct the air into the rad so cooling shouldn't be an issue, unless a large turbo just creates too much heat...

IC is finally in. Havn't built the plenum to feed it cold air yet, but I'm working on it. Still havn't done much on the rear end but some shock tuning that made a huge difference. Took it out to Bugorama and ended up with a 13.5 as my quickest time, but that was before the IC so by the end of the track my little stock IC located behind the seat was totally heat soaked thus way down on power.

What you need to do is get a real turbo for that beast. I have done two 1.8t setups with t3/t4 50 trims that both made 320 to the wheels. One in mk4 golf and one in a corrado converted to rear wheel drive. I just yanked the head and dropped in some h beams just to be safe. The tiny K04 just doesn't flow enough to make any real power and heats the air up to much.

The car looks really good though and has the potential to be stupid fast.

This is what you need. Some pics of the mk4 setup I made.

My plan is a GT28RS, what do you think of that? I'm really more interested in early spool up more than power above 300hp. I'm kinda scratching my head now about possibly making the intake run shorter to reduce lag, but I think I'll just worry about the air flow to the IC for now.

What configuration did you run the Corrado in? What was the rear suspension like?

The gt28 is a good turbo and what I originally put on the corrado because he was also after spool time . I will just warn you that you will get used to the power and the gt28 does not leave you any room to grow. The owner of the corrado was sick of it in less than a month so we went with the 50 trim. There are better options but a 50 trim can be had for less than 600 new and will outlast the motor if cared for. In my experience shortening the intercooler piping will result in a very minimal change especially in your setup since it's pretty short already. I wouldn't imagine the lag would be much of a problem in such a light car but any big turbo will feel lagy compared to the k04.

The corrado was front engine with a 944 transaxle in the back so the suspension was basically bug stuff.

Pretty stock lookin

I hear you, but I will tell you that I'm already annoyed with the lag, for me lag is more of an issue than power. At just over 300hp, in a bug the power to weight ratio will be that of a serious supercar without the safety or chassis to handle it, so while more is better, I already think 300 will be too much in such a light car.

What was really weird is how much more turbo lag I have now compared to the stock intake and IC setup. I'm missing the stock spool up, but not the heatsoak. I have 2 M3s, and when I'm used to M3 motor accuracy, its a big stretch to a turbo motor, let alone a big lag one. I don't even like the lag on our 335, and with 2 small turbos it's very minimal!

I found out one of the problems for lag and just kind of being anemic was that the stock intake boot to the turbo was collapsing and also was kind of kinked slightly. I bought an APR silicon intake tube that bolts directly to the turbo, bypassing the stock KO3 intake casting.

What a difference!!! It's really phenominal how easily the motor picks up speed and the boost gets on. Of course the little turbo is at full spool quickly and just kind of stay there, but it makes for a fun drive now.

I attempted a track session at Infineon with the Audi Club, but they wouldn't tech it as the motor is still uncovered, very understandable to me, but it was worth a shot.

The car has been gone over at Krause Racing as well. They did the alignment and corner weighting on it, I can just say that my weight really throws off the car!!!

Did an autocross with it, good run times but had a really hard time putting the power down due to no limited slip differential, so that's actually prett high up on the goodies list regarding performance.

I've got a new Wilwood MC that is a smaller diameter so hopefully I can get a little more pedal travel and feel with less pressure, I have about an inch of travel now and it's a workout if you really need to stop quickly!

PS 55Superbeetle, do you have all that SS tubing in stock or do you order as you need it? I love your welds and I'm thinking maybe a trip down to see you to get my exhaust finished up might be a good thing, lemme know.

Got the exhaust fabbed up today, only tacked, not full welded yet or repolished.
