A few last questions?
Jake,
Does the typeIV torquer require lots of crank case breathers? In some photos of your previous engines i have seen a large breather box in the engine bay with the torquer i have not noticed one!
Do you use traction bars with typeIV's as again i have not noticed them in photos?
Any news on the developement of the sidewinder exhaust?I really need the extra clearance but dont want to be too late to order a torquer kit!!
Have followed your cross country trip and i am convinced that i need a TYPEIV Torquer! The only down side was the fuel economy but if your talking US gallons then UK gallons are bigger so the mpg will be a little better!!Anyway you cant let mpg get in the way of reliable fun!!
If the development of the sidewinder is going to go on in time the perhaps a hefty deposit could secure a torquer kit until then!!
I know your schedule is busier than most of ours put together so I can wait but i would like to order soon so i dont miss the deadline for the new kit!And a single delivery to the UK will probably be best for us all!
Thanks

Huw,
The MPG was figured in US Gallons... Keep in mind that the car weighed a whopping 2,480 pounds and was being driven at an average speed of 74 MPH. Most of my customers attain 24-27 MPG with similar engines in lighter cars, especially those that are more aerodynamic like a speedster.
The sidewinder development has a low priority at this point as the standard A-1 is working so well for us and I have so may other developments going on that are needed much more than the sidewinder. I cannot estimate the time frame thre sidewinder would be tested up in, but one thing to remember is that you'll need a fair amount of time to assemble the engine and during that time I'll be working on the Sidewinder. The current sidewinder suffers from issues with the secondarys and the muffler, both of which could be added after we find a solution for them- if you finished the engine assembly sooner than normal.
ANY Performance engine NEEDS adequate pressure scavenging for the crankcase! The smaller the breather box the faster it fills with pressure and becomes worthless. I offer a 1.4 L stainless steel unit that does the job very well and is recommended for all of my engine applications. It is smaller than the CSP unit that is made similar to it and it fits in the engine bay better. Not enough pressure scavenging backs up power and causes oil leaks!
The Torquer kits are our best seller at the present, by far! Since my trip we have been bombarded with those wanting a similar engine that can do the same things!

Are you going to keep it avalable longer then?If not when is the deadline for ordering the kit?The second issue is almost ready and Dean said he would send both the first and second ones together, that means about two months or are orders likely to close sooner?
Initially you thought the problem the problem was just the muffler this is not the case now then? The secondarys is the majority of the pipe work so a large time to work out i assume!!The muffler in my case could probably be replaced with a standard A1 muffler with shortened pipes accross the rear of the car inside the rear wing/bumper with suitable support brackets!!
Would ordering seperately increase the shipping much or would they be boxed and charged seperately??
Thanks

I honestly do not know when I will cease the "Type 4 torquer" kt.. it will more than likely be before the article is finished up. As it is now we cannot keep up with engine kit sales!
By secondarys I was referiing to the plumbing AFTER the collector, that leads to the muffler. This is the EASIEST component to change..
I no longer allow any other components to be ordered with a kit, the kit is it's own sale handled differently than any other retail sale. The exhaust would have to be ordered separately from the kit anyway, no matter when you purchase a kit, no matter what kit it may be.
You could do the DTM and the exhaust together if you wanted.

OK cool I might order the kit then the other bits when the build is done!I could order a used case with the kit though?
I noticed in the write up about the Plague you run dual traction bars, what do you mean by this and do they fit like with a type 1 holding on the lump on the bottom of the crankcase with a rubber mount like the berk system?
You can usually see that type in rear end shots but i have not noticed them on any of the conversion cars i have seen pictures of!
Thanks

if the secondary pipes are near enough straight does there length have a major influence? If a standard A1 2.5" muffler was used with the correct flange not the sidewinder muffler would this be a viable option?
Cylinders for the torquer kits say exchange only, could a core charge be paid due to excess overseas shipping cost or do i need to find a set and ship them to you?
Thanks

The other thing i ment to ask was does the bottom pulley get balanced with the kit or seperatly?I want a pulley to suit my efi system as discussed here previously with a toothed wheel added for the crank ignition pick up, do i need to order this first to get it balanced with the kit?
On the traction bar question is it covered on your site somewhere i have missed?
Sorry for all the questions
Thanks for all your help

Huw,
I can sell you a used case and do the machine work- no sweat.
The lower pulley can be bought at any time, we'll just discount it's price and inclusion when you buy the DTM, that way I can balance it for you with the rest of the kit.
Unless a customer has OEM used 93 or 94mm cylinders for core they cannot receive our deluxe cylinders! this is because the cores are very hard to find that acceptable. I cannot even charge an amount for a core charge, we MUST receive cores or the bored cylinders are not an option.
You have a LONG TIME before you'll need to worry about exhaust, concentrate on the internals first and take things one step at a time. Kit customers get themselves all worked up over ancillary components before they need to and it's my job to ensure they don't make assembly mistakes because they are worried about "small" things.

What are the other options for cylinders without loosing reliability?Nikkies?
Otherwise we would be loosing quality right?I will try to locate a set, what is not acceptable to you?Chipped cooling fins ,obvious damage, anything not so obvious?
Is there anything else out of a typeIV engine that i would require that is not included in the kit?
Long way round thinking if there is do you have any of those complete engines in your stash left that i could use for core cylinders case etc?
