These heads worth $225?

And here is the description....
"Pair of heads from a 73-74 914 2.0, no smog ports. These are the biggest valve type 4 heads ever made ! THese are the real deal with 039 part numbers.
This is a rebuildable pair, Amazingly there is only one impact point from A CARBURETOR SQUARTER ON THE FLAT SURFACE OF THE HEADThe combustion chamber is not DAMAGED These are a definate good set of core heads, complete. Exhaust studs are in great shape too!
These will fit any type 4 engine with 94mm cylinders, be it a 914, a 912E, a VW Bus, or a VW 411."

Might be,but for referance,I bought the same motor whole with better looking heads for $250,but that was about 2 years ago.

Thats a decent price for a set of cores as these will require lots of work to rebuild. Welding etc cost money.....

By the time they are repaired with seats updated and valvetrain updated you'll have about 300 bucks less in them that a brand new spankin set of LE 180s... the 180s are brand new, not 33 years old with unknown cracks and exhaust stud issues to deal with...
Thats worth well more than 300 bucks.

Look at the detonation *acne* on the head he is trying NOT to show!
BOTH are ate up! and he claims only one *spot* where the head was hit!
Damn thang is ate up I tell ya! I know Len *would* work on those, but with that bad ache, I'm almost SURE that it will have hidden cracks....
$300 in the cores and THEN pay to redo EVERYTHING? I don't think someone could even break EVEN with a new set of LEs, probably have MORE in then than the LEs!
I wouldn't use them for boat anchors........ok, may to hold my dinghy!

Not worth accepting for free, given the amount of work it will take to restore those heads!
