I am thinking of desgning a double wishbone rear suspension.
Before I go and reinvent the wheel, is anyone currently making one for sale, or working on the same thing?

Application is a Speedster clone

I bought the plans for the Rorty design, mid-engine beetle. Very slick set-up.

hoghead, Speedster means rear engine, correct?

DORIGTT, have you done any fab? Any pics available of the set-up?
Meyers has a stock Bug wheelbase 4 seater buggy. There's a guy on the Samba advertising triangulated tube frames for the same. I'm thinking a mid engine version for autocross. VW based shifter cart, 1100 to 1200 lbs & nicely balanced. I'm thinking it would be a contender.

Speedster is a clone based on the 1957 Porsche 356. Rear engined.
Some use a shortned pan and others use a tube rame. I am going for a tube frame c/w front A-arms and now want to do something for the rear.
Cannot go mid engine without doing body hacking, and I want the orig. look.

Will move the drivetrain forward to clear a Subaru DOHC turbo engine. Running a 915 transaxle as well so the torsion tube is in the way. By the time I modify all this, run coilovers etc, I may as well go whole hog.

I am in Thailand and must retain the VIN on the chassis, so cannot go completely tube and must have that little frame bit under the rear seat with the VIN. The rest of the frame is a "repair" and all that survives is the VIN.

This Rorty design sounds interesting - can you tell me more?
No sense in reinventing the wheel.

googled Rorty and am like what I see. If starting from scratch, and no worries about a VIN number then this is a easy way to go and all the engineerng is already done.

I cannot use a complete new frame and must recycle my thai VIN. This limits me to using the Beetle rear frame section with the VIN. So I need to come up with some double wishbone arrangement while still keeping the Beetle VIN, and "repairing" the rest of the frame.
