Its just back from Murdock's Auto Upholstery across the mountain in Brevard NC!! Billy and Christi there did a GREAT job!! I highly recommend their service as Beth and I are both hard to please and they certainly impressed me!
This gave us the kick in the pants we need to finish this baby up!! Everything you see interior/top wise was done by hand, from scratch!!
More info later.. I have to go get the engine ready for the dyno so we can start building BOOST!!!!
Thats right, a 230+HP engine with a female driver and its equipped with A/C and is built from the "Super 2 Liter" platform, this has a "+" suffix as it the forced induction version! Not bad for a daily driver...

Not a fan of the 70s models bugs, but that one is nice. Door panels are simple looking and very nice. (I am not implying they are cake to make just not a bunch of extra to them - clean and nice). I especially like the door pull integrated into the door panel. Good stuff.

Yep, they even profiled the armrest/door pull to enable the front seats to be folded forward with the door closed, something not capable in a stock bug..
The front seats are Porsche 911 and have the same outer skin and tweed insert, so they match the back seat in design..
Later beetles are much better daily drivers, especially this one with all the suspension mods and etc that we did to it. It outhandles my 912 easily.

That's even better about the profile of the door pulls. Little details like that from people make you want to go back. Again, I thought the door panels were very nice.
As for the late model bugs, can't argue one bit about the mechanical upgrades. I just like the early model bug better (and ghias too although I have a 71 with "ugly" turn signals and almost "huge" tail lights). Just my preference, but your 79 looks very nice. Not trying to knock it in any way.

That really is nice! It even looks good in ratrod mode with theose fenders off!

Will the turbo comprimize the MPGs at all? It would be a shame if her 230 HP daily driver only got 45 MPG. LOL. You may have the most MPG per HP per lb. in history! You might end up in one of those "mainstream" car mags.

It is our hypothesis that the MPG will remain the same as the aspirated version!
We won't know till we try it..
