I have mine secured with 8 screws with countersink washers, using the bugpack windsheild gasket.

The leak thing was a joke. I had plexiglass at one time but it scratches easy and the thought of hitting something and shards of plastic coming through made me do it with DOT glass. My windshield was probably on the high end at $98 including gasket. Also put some rain ex on it also, it helps.

So you have DOT glass, bolted to your rail correct? Does the rubber gasket act as a cushion? And does the rubber gasket help so when you tighten the bolts it does not crack or break. i ask is because i can just see me putting this glass on there, go to tighten down the bolts and it shatters.

I first time I took it out in the dunes did some jumping bone jarring (for me) whoops and windshield held in great Second time took it out and wore goggles, sand and glass do not mix.

But back to your question. The screws go through the rubber gasket into the tubing, there is enought seperation between glass and metal so it does not touch, would only take once. Getting the template right before making the windshield is a must.

How are you mounting your windshield wiper or wipers?

havn't thought that far ahead, i was thinking on doing a temp setup since i don't want them on there except for inspection time. Do you get the holes drilled when you get the glass made or what?

In most locales, hand crank wipers are acceptable.
